Super Turrican Review

Super TurricanOften rare and overlooked, this game is actually a rerendered "Turrican III" from the Amiga computer systems.
Turrican was a video/computer game series that was an underground favorite among the industry. Thanks to one of my friends, he convinced me to buy Super Turrican and its Sega Genesis counterpart, Mega Turrican...
...to which I say WHY DIDN'T I GET THIS GAME BEFORE?!
This hidden gem of a game has some of the superb graphics I've seen on the system. The music (contributed by Chris Huelsbeck) is stellar and almost CD quality. I'm surprised he hasn't done film scoring. The basic plot of the game is that you play a robotic/humanoid character in his quest to save the world of Katakis, which has been taken over by "The Machine." The game doesn't really delve into the plot much, but it doesn't have to; with sharp music, impressive oldskool-ish gameplay, excellent graphics (for the time, they were state-of-the-art), and extroadinary level designs, this game doesn't fail to please.
If you own a Super NES, I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU GET THIS GAME. It's very challenging, but it's a grand amount of fun. Why it's so rare is beyond me. Even more so is the sequel. In any case, they're usually cheap on Amazon or at a pawn shop. Your Super NES library should not be without this game. A classic in the platform genre and an essential to your SNES library.

Buster Brothers Review

Buster BrothersYour mission in this video game is simple - use the tools at hand to pop the bubbles bouncing in the screen around you.Sound simple? What if the big bubbles broke into two several times before the small bubbles finally went away? Before you know it, bubbles can surround you with hardly any way out.
This is a fun and addictive game.I've been known to play for hours on end to get "just a little bit better."It has two modes of game play, tour, in which you advance from level to level, and panic, in which bubbles are introduced at random intervals from the top of the screen. Both are fun and challenging ways to play.
This game is a hidden gem for the Super Nintendo system.Buy it today and enjoy hours of addictive fun.

Wings 2: Aces High Review

Wings 2: Aces HighI've always enjoyed aerial games, but this one is by far one of the coolest I've ever played. The creators really tried to keep this authentic, so you're not going to find fast-packed action, but so long as that's not what you're looking for, I think you'll like this game.

The premiss is simple. You choose from one of five pilots, each of whom has certain advantages (speed, accuracy, ect) to comand one of three kinds of missions. You may switch pilots at any time, and with each mission completed, you can boost their skills, making them more competitive as the missions get harder. The missions are broken into dog-fights (the majority), straffing runs, and bombing runs.Your mission will be handed to you prior to taking flight and there will be a review of your performance at the end.

The combat sequences are really cool, especially the dog-fights.The game will actually test your skills as a pilot because it will take more than shooting your enemy to win.Once in your sights, enemy pilots will dive and dodge to escape your gunfire, and it is difficult to score enough hits to take down a plane. You will also come under attack, which will force you to learn the mechanics of your plane.Dive too hard, give the plane too little gas, or bank it too hard, and you will quickly end up a pile of smoking rubble on the ground. But with practice and a good pilot, you will use the skies of France as your own personal ballet stage of aerial death!

The controls are very easy to master, and the difficulty of shooting down enemy planes will keep you experimenting with different techniques to get the upper hand. The graphics are exceptional, as are the sound effects, so don't be put off by the slow pace of the game.In fact, you'll find that the air war during WWI produced a number of unique individuals forged at a time when aerial combat was in its infancy, many of whom were just crazy.

Formula One: Built To Win (F-1 B.T.W.) Review

Formula One: Built To WinThe full name of the game is actually Formula One: Built to Win (F-1 B.T.W.). When you actually start to race, you'll notice a lot of the sound effects and graphics steal from Rad Racer. But this has something Rad Racer does not have: the ability to improve upon your car by first winning races to earn money, then using that money to buy better parts, a better, more lightweight body, more powerful motor, and eventually a better car. You travel from city to city to win races, which each one is progressively more difficult to win (that's where you need better parts). And if you're getting desperate for money, go to Las Vegas, and try your luck at the slots. But just like real life, your chances of hitting the jackpot is very slim, but if you do, you get rewarded big time. But I take a star off because no matter how hard and determined I am, I never been able to win this game. But bear in mind, this game came out in 1990 on the old 8-bit NES, so the graphics are rather crude (even by 1990 standards because 16 bit games were common knowledge by that time, like on Sega Genesis).

Pinball Fantasies Review

Pinball FantasiesYes it was released in 1995, after pinball Dreams. It's in 2D. But it's tons of fun, it's a real simulation of a pinball (except the credits, but instead you can win extra-balls by the match awards). There are 4 pinball tables, and I can tell you that they are all great fun : Party Land, Speed Devils, Billion Dolar Gameshow and Stones'N'Bones. I have a little preference for Billion Dollar, but a lot of people prefer Stones'N'Bones because it is mode based. Anyway, all tables have the same fun features : Things to increase your bonus (Cyclones/Miles/Skills/Screams), high-scoring modes (in each table, there is a mode which becomes available when you hit several ramps which makes each target scores 100,000 or 500,000 or even 1,000,000!), and of course the standard features : jackpots, extra-balls, bonus multipliers, hold bonus... Your high scores are saved of course.
So, if you are into pinball, and you don't mind 2D views... THIS GAME IS FOR YOU!!!

Virtua Athlete 2000 Review

Virtua Athlete 2000After playing Virtua Athlete 2000 I was overall impressed with the game. The graphics for the game were top-notch graphics. The stadium-like feel with the commentrey and affulent body movements complemented the great graphics for a realistic, nice apperance.Gameplay, yet, is not as nice as the graphics. It is rather limited with only 7 events.Events are also a little tough to do well in. The create a player mode and online rankings are a plus.Even though the game isn't first-class work, it deserves a spin.I give the Sega Company credit for trying to create a good track &field where most are just pieces of junk.

TMNT III Manhattan Review

TMNT III ManhattanI thought I had played all the turtles game's back in the day, but recently I found out about this one. I'd never heard of it before!!! I spose if I's ever bothered to take notice i'd see that the original was 1, the arcade to nes was 2, Turtles in Time (arcade/snes) was 4 and tournement fighters was 5... leaving this as the 3rd.

I played it recently via emulation and it's pretty much just like the arcade(2). The game is actualy suprsingly good even by todays standard of gaming. The graphics arnt supurb, but there not that bad tho, the controls are easy and the game is fun.

You can pick all 4 turtles who each have a special move each. To execute it you push A then B, or B then A, one or the other. (jump then attack) Leo will spin around on the spot whirling his kitana blades around, Donny flips foward with two good bo shots, Raph does the Phyco Crusher (torpedo) and Mikey leaps into the air feet first and does a super kick.

The new aditional moves made the game a lot better then just simple button mashing all the time. All the baddies are back, tonne of foot soldiars, Rocksteady, Bepop, rock soldiars, mousers, flying robots and new to the list of boss' is a few unknowns and Tokka and Razaa from the TMNTII movie, as well as Leatherhead.

Fight it out to save April then go to defeat Krang and the Shredder.

It would be great to see them revive these games someday. This particuler version I think should just be the next level after the last of the Arcade(2) game and extend the game's levels. It seemed kinda short, just like the Arcade, it doesnt take long to beat it. So add 2,3&4 together and it would be a nice continues long game.
