Battletoads/ Double Dragon Review

Battletoads/ Double DragonThis game is amazing, I loved playing this back in the SNES days. This was an extremely fun game playing with 2 people. In this game you have 5 characters to choose from, 3 being Battletoads and the other being Double Dragon. This game has a pretty good soundtrack in my opinion especially the first levels theme song. You have pretty average fights in this game, punches, kicks, super punches which make your hands grow big if you punch while running towards the enemy. This is an excellent game, the best on the Super Nintendo platform. One of the funnest things in this game could have been riding on those cars, that was very entertaining. So the answer to the question is, Battletoads & Double Dragon is one of the funnest Super Nintendo games!

Product Description:
Arguably the most popular video game character ever created, Pac-Man makes his way to your home in this self-titled cartridge for the NES. As most people with any sense of popular culture know, Pac-Man is a yellow, pie-shaped little guy with an enormous appetite. Your job is to guide him around a maze, gobbling up all of the dots.During your feast, four ghosts will chase after you. If you let Blinky, Pinky, Inky, or Clyde touch Pac-Man, you lose a life, unless, of course, you have recently eaten an energizer dot. When you do eat an energizer dot, Pac-Man can eat the ghosts for extra points. There are four of these type of dots on the screen, one in each corner of the maze. Another way to get extra points is to eat the fruit that bounces from time to time throughout the maze. When you have cleared the maze, you start the process all over again, this time with faster ghosts and a different kind of fruit. As it says on the box, this version of Pac-Man came out ten years after Namco's original arcade classic.

King's Knight Review

King's KnightBefore Final Fantasy came out, Square was just one of dozens of companies making games for the NES. Rad Racer was good, but King's Knight was just plain boring. It's a top-down shooter with a heavy fantasy theme to it. About the only interesting thing about this game was that you could see some elements that Square would use later on. For example, there's an option of rearranging the lineup of your characters. That technique will be used in MANY Square games, but mostly the Final Fantasy series. Secondly, notice how different this top-down shooter is: You start playing as one character, fighting your way through one locale. If you die or make it to the end, then you go on to the next character (there's 2 more of them). After all characters have gone through their respective levels, they team up for the first time in some evil-looking place. This concept of characters starting off by themselves and then teaming up later will be used in such games like Secret of Mana 2. When I first heard about this earlier Square game, I was eager to play it. Now that I've played it, I realize this game is nothing to get excited over. For one, the screen scrolls vertically, meaning that you have to blast those mountains, barriers, and bad guys, before they crush you against the end of the screen. Secondly, there is no save or password feature, which is common for an NES game, but unforgivable. The different characters starting in different locales is interesting, like I said, but the levels are LONG and HARD. A pretty bad effort by Square, considering that they did make one of the popular Rad Racer games. With King's Knight, it's no wonder that Square switched to turned-based RPG's . . . .

Adventure Island II Review

Adventure Island IIThere's mot that much difference between this game and the first - you run around on an island, beating bosses, collecting fruit so you don't run out of energy, avoiding monsters, and the like.

However, this game is a improvement over the first. Graphics are more cleaned up and colorful, but that is the least of the improvements. The same fruit=life scheme is used here, but it feels like more thought was put into it. It seemed that in this game, I had a easier time getting fruit to keep alive, and though there ARE some levels where fruit is scarce and you have to move fast, this game is not as frustrating as the first one. You also have dinosaurs to ride (each with their own ability) and a skateboard. The bosses are also more varied.

Again, the graphics are improved. Granted, graphics don't have that much of a impact on gameplay, but compared to this one, the first one had rather ugly graphics. The colors here are vivid and the backgrounds are pleasing to look at and more well-defined. You also get a chance here and there to warp and skip islands (there's eight in all, each with a different theme like volcano, jungle, desert, etc)

If you found the first game to be a bit hard to enjoy, try this one. It's a definite improvement.
