Terminator Review

TerminatorTerminator for the nes is not the worst game out there. It's below average at best.
The graphics are kinda shoddy and when the character sprite jumps, it's quite possibly one of the funniest things you'll see on nintendo. You control Kyle Reese through various stages from the future in sewers and rubble, to the 1980's in the police station and the factory and several other levels that aren't really discernable because the graphics are so poor.

Despite the graphics, the sound might be even worse. It's not so much music that you'll hear, more like beeps and random sound effects that loop together. Everything here is very unpolished like it was rushed through development which overall doesn't make a whole lot of sense because from my understanding, this game was released years after the movie. There really is no excuse for this to be so clunky of a release, by the time this came out there were some vastly superior games in terms of graphics on the nes.

All in all, I can't really recommend this to a casual collector. I played through it and really, what's here is playable but why bother? Some of the car chase levels mix things up but they play poorly as well. Another serious omission is the complete lack of cut scenes. Even the ending of the game is a huge letdown, with a picture of a crushed terminator skull, that's it. I wanted to like this game but if you really want a terminator game, stick with T2 on the nes, it's actually the best version of the game and completly superior to the snes game and lightyears ahead of this.
