Puzznic Review

PuzznicPuzznic is an extremely challenging and addicting game. There are 160 puzzles in the main portion of the game, and the level of difficulty of these puzzles increases as you pregress through the game. Each puzzle involves a strategic placing aspect, timing aspect, or both. Passwords are given upon completion of each level so you can turn the game off, then continue playing from the spot you left off. Impressive graphics and storyline are virtually nonexistent, but this is definitely the most mentally challenging video game I have ever played. I highly recommend it!

NHL 98 Review

NHL 98This is the final SNES offering of the seminal EA Sports NHL franchise for said platform. The run on Genesis for this title also ended with the 1998 offering, both beginning with NHLPA '93.
Easily the best hockey series for SNES, with 98 simply having the latest rosters and a few more features here and there, tweaked gameplay and whatnot. The games are mostly the same from 95 or so on, with different menus and music and other things that EA could change without altering the game too much. This particular offering features rather bland menus.
For the record, the BEST of all is probably NHL 97 - better looking, more bells and whistles - but the great gameplay is essentially the same - solid play control, real NHL teams with all the players, stats tracking, and so on and so forth - fun to play alone but SO GREAT to play with friends - or to have feuds with your roommates. You can play with the rosters, create players, trade, and etc. etc. etc. - a fully functional sports game on a less than perfect gaming platform.

King Arthur and the Knights of Justice Review

King Arthur and the Knights of JusticeTHERE ARE QUITE A FEW THINGS THAT I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS GAME FOR THE SNES. THIS GAME IS VERY CHALLENGING IN SOME AREAS ESPECIALLY THE FIRST 6 QUESTS WERE NOT TOO DIFFICULT BUT IN THE LAST 2 LEVELS WHICH ARE QUEST 7 & QUEST 8 AT 1ST I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE DIFFICULT WITH THE LAST BOSSES UNTIL I DEDUCED THE ATTACK PATTERN & MASTERED IT ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER CONQUERING THE WHOLE GAME. THE TRICK IN BEATING THIS GAME IS HAVING ALL THE KNOWLEDGE ACCUMLATED AS POSSIBLE, ALSO LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE YOU TALK TO CAUSE ITS IS VERY IMPORTANT IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND THE GAME & COLLECTING ITEMS IS THE KEY IN DOING SO DO NOT GET DISCOURAGE BY MY REVIEW THIS GAME IS NOT AS HARD AS PEOPLE THINK THEY DO NOT WANT TO TAKE THE TIME , THE ENERGY , THE SKILL & PATIENCE TO PLAY THIS GAME . I KNOW ALOT OF PEOPLE TREAT THIS GAME WITH POOR REVIEWS. THOSE KIND OF CRITICS DO NOT KNOW WHAT THERE TALKING ABOUT. IF YOUR INTO SWORD FIGHTING & PUZZLE SOLVING GAMES I WOULD RECCOMEND YOU GET THIS GAME ONE MORE THING. I MUST MENTION THAT THIS GAME IS VERY RARE TO FIND ON THE INTERNET. THE LAST TIME I CHECK IS BACK IN OCTOBER 2009 ONLY ONE SELLER HAD IT AVAILABLE. GOOD LUCK IN FINDING IT FOR SALE.

College Football '97 Review

College Football '97This game is a pretty good game, with plenty of College Football teams to choose from and choosing a wide variety of plays. However, it does have some defects, such as the game moving much slower than the Super Nintendo was capable of, which handicaps the gameplay, as well as the controls are a little awkward that you have a tendency to miss passes. This was the last College Football game for BOTH the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, before it moved on to the Sony PlayStation for the next season. I would definitely recommend this game, but the Sega Genesis version is better and runs a little smoother.

Wing Commander Review

Wing CommanderWing Commander is a space flight simulator. The premise of the game is basically that the human race is waging war against an alien cat like race called the Kilrathi. You play a rookie pilot who by the end of the game (hopefully) has made a name for himself. While much of the game is spent completing missions, inbetween those missions you can spend time talking to your fellow teammates in the lounge area, checking out the kill board or getting a mission debriefing. The missions themselves vary from destroying all targets while traveling from one nav point to another to escorting friendlies. The mission view is that from the cockpit. Depending on what ship you are flying the view is different as are the weapons and shields available. You can also talk to your wingmen or taunt the enemy with certain commands. The controls take a bit of getting used to but after an hour or two you should feel right at home. The graphics and music are not that great unfortunately. The graphics are dark and not very detailed and the music is not that memorable. What will keep you playing though is the storyline and the challange. How you perform determines how the war goes. Fail too many objectives and your carrier, the Tiger Claw will be attacked. Complete the objectives and you'll take the war to the Kilrathi! Overall, the game is a lot of fun and is an excellent start to a great series.

Alien 3 Review

Alien 3This is the best game you can buy for the NES. It features an excellent environment to blast you way through. The aliens are everywhere and you must rescue prisoners in the allotted time and beat the level. It doesn't have James Horners excellent score, but it still has good music to match the environment.

Bandit Kings of Ancient China Review

Bandit Kings of Ancient China... provided that you know how to play this game. Within this game, there is a maximum of 27 years to beat the Evil Gao Qiu. You have a lot of things to think about - your men, armors, the loyalty/happiness of your citizens, the resources of your land, how much food and gold you have, and the like, and you can only do ONE action from any one of these categories and others to take care of per turn.

A strategy I discovered later on was that it was better to play this game in 2 or 3 (user)player mode and play all of the characters. That way, you can concentrate on Gao Qiu instead of worrying about the other characters (who are otherwise played by computer.) Another thing to do is for each of your characters to swear in about 2 Eternal Brothers or Sisters ASAP (preferably stronger/skilled ones. She-Devil is one of my personal favorites) and have them take care of your initial territory while you travel to other territories to expand and recruit more characters. The nice thing about these Brothers and Sisters is that each character in the game, including Gao Qiu and his men, each have a turn (the system rotates through prefectures for turns) and the more Brothers and Sisters you have (max 9 for each character) get a turn where you can decide the action, just like with your original characters. That way, you can really work on the things you need, and sometimes your brothers and sisters can recruit people for you. Just concentrate on getting 2 ASAP and later on, as your ranks grow and you attract strong warriors, you can bring them in as Brothers (such as Red-Eyed Lion, Eight-Armed Lo, Nine Dragons, etc) Leave average comrades (not brothers) to run territories on the fringes of the map (where they're not likely to be attacked) and they can maintain these areas for you quietly and send you supplies or money as needed as well as gain overall support of that prefecture (as long as they have enough food and money to start with)

The military aspect of this game is also a treat. Make sure your men are well-armored and trained before you fight for more territory. You can have vanquished foes join your ranks, which is always a treat. Just one caveat, make sure you check loyalty every so often, you do NOT want the numbers to drop too low. Have a feast every once in a while especially if you have a lot of men and women in your prefecture - this goes for ALL of the characters you play, not just your original ones. Make sure to pay attention to your citizens too, because the more liked you are, the more you can recruit.

Overall this is a farily good game, more enjoyable when I was playing 3 characters (Leopard-Headed, Blue-Face Beast, and the Hairy Priest) since it gave me greater control AND made the game last longer.
