Super Caesar's Palace Review

Super Caesar's PalaceIn this game you have all of the normal vegas stuff, craps, roulette, slot machines, keno, and also horse racing you dont see the horces racing but bet on longshots and they might hit. You basically walk around like your in a casino playing different games and putting your money on the line. no real back story, just for gambling. I played this when i was like 12-15 and really enjoyed it. I figured i should review cause nobody else has and its a good game.

Mortal Kombat II Review

Mortal Kombat IIWhen Midway released the first Mortal Kombat to the arcades back in 1992, they probably never thought of doing a sequel. But the game was very well received. For the first time digitized actors replaced hand-drawn fighters, the action looked very realistic and most of all, it took violence in a video game to a standard that had never been reached before. It all lead to the inevitable release of Mortal Kombat II, which is widely considered the best and most original of the series.
The SNES version is probably the best home conversion available. Everything from the arcade version is included, from blood and gore to fatalities and hidden characters. The story behind the game is fresh. At the end of the first tournament, Liu Kang has managed to defeat Shang Tsung and banish him to the "Outworld".
Tsung's master, Shao Kahn, has restored Tsung's youth in exchange for a plan to lure the earth warriors to a tournament held in the Outworld itself. This tournament is none other than Mortal Kombat II.
MK2 introduces a host of new kombatants including Kung Lao, Jax, Kitana, Mileena, Baraka and the now playable Reptile and Shang Tsung. The original fighters return, minus Sonya and Kano. Each fighter has at least two fatalities, plus a friendship and a babality! The old guys have been polished up a bit and given some new moves to match them with the new ones. There are two brand new bosses. The first is Kintaro, who is of the same clan of creatures as Goro from the original, but is far more powerful. The second is Shao Kahn, who's insults are his own downfall.
What the MK series is really known for is the finishing moves, and MK2 manages to satisfy any lust you would have for blood! These make MK1 look tame! Especially violent are Johnny Cage's torso rip, Jax's arm rip and face smash and Baraka's blade lift. New to the series are Friendships (in which the winner shows his friendship towards the loser) and babalities (in which the loser is turned into an infant). Three new stage fatalities are present as well! Two brand new secret characters are present and will appear during the game giving various clues. They are of course, Smoke and Jade. Unfortunately you can't play as them, but only fight them.
A noticable weakness of the game is the irritating scratching sound that almost always appears when something is announced. The music is also not much in the quality department, but then again, Mortal Kombat was never known for its music. The visuals were pretty amazing for it's time, but will hardly impress anyone today. Controls, though responsive are a bit awkward. The characters tend to slide too much.
Anyway after all these years, it can still be quite addicting. SNES owners looking for worthy fighting games should pick this up. You might also want to try MK3 (but not Ultimate MK3 please...). If you are a fan of Mortal Kombat 4, then you will undoubtedly enjoy this. For the ultimate in SNES fighting games however, consider Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting.

The Legend of Kage Review

The Legend of KageThis is my favorite Nintendo game (for the 8 bit system). Way before crouching tiger, this games hero was jumping 40 feet through the trees. The music is simple and looped (given the times), but I love it. What a great song!

In some ways it's a game of chance. You never know when you will get a throwing star to the head. However, I have beaten the game many times.

This is also a strange and creative game. There is one special pill that makes Kage pray and all the ninjas die like bugs on an electric zapper.

get some Chicken fingers and fried rice and play this game!

Batman Returns Review

Batman ReturnsBatman Returns is a brawler game for the SNES, much like Final Fight and Turtles in Time. You go through several stages beating up the bad guys. Some stages are 2D with minor platforming action. One stage is simulated 3D and lets you drive the Batmobile.

Two things make this game one of the best Batman titles ever released. Gameplay-wise, Batman has tons of moves to keep the fighting from getting boring. Besides your basic combo, there are jump kicks, a glide attack, and multiple grab attacks that let you bash heads together, slam bad guys into the ground, or smash them against objects and the background. Multiple enemy types, environmental hazards, and fun boss types keep the levels fresh.

Presentation wise, Konami went all-out with making the game feel like the movie. Graphics and design are accurate to Burton's unique visionary style, and almost all of Danny Elfman's hauntingly rich score has been captured on the SNES cart with amazing accuracy. Rendered shots of characters and scenes from the movie give the game that authenticity that we are only starting to get on a consistent basis with today's movie tie-in offerings. Plus tiny details (such as being able to duplicate Batman's encounter with the stun gun clown) make the game come to life.

The only thing missing is 2-player mode, which really wouldn't have fit with the movie's structure. Definitely sets a high standard for all Batman and movie tie-in games, and an essential piece of any Batman game collection.

Rampage Review

RampageI bought this game from FuncoLand - or whatever that used game place that doesn't exist anymore was called - for something around 10 bucks. My first thought when playing it was, "Man, these graphics aren't near as good as what I remember from the arcade."

I understandably attibuted this thought to a poor memory combined with a nostalgic feeling that things in my childhood seemed much better than they actually were. But when I saw some old arcade screenshots of the original, the graphics looked truly as wonderful as I remembered. They looked like modern graphics actually.I was surprised. The NES just couldn't duplicate arcade graphics like that.No wonder I thought the NES graphics looked so crummy. They WERE crummy, even if other versions of Rampage looked even worse.

But the NES rampage is the ONLY version without the Wolf guy. What a bummer! That takes away a third of the fun right there.

Still, this game ain't bad to play.Nice and simple and relaxing.Great to play late at night.I played it ALL the way through during the 4th of July, all 128 levels that look exactly the same.(The towns in Hawaii look like the towns in Illinois for instance, but you have to expect that from old games.)

Its not a game you play to see the ending (since the ending is nothing but credits) but its like a handheld slot machine. You do the same thing over and over again for hours just to give your mind a break. You have infinite continues so you can play for as long as you want.Darn, if only the graphics were like the arcade version though.

Spy vs. Spy Review

Spy vs. SpyNow this is a simple game that is more fun to play against your enemy, siblings, or in-laws! Whenever my brother and I got into a fight, my fabolous dad would pit us against each other in this old, simple graphic game! We never did ever get to the airport, to busy extracting revenge with the differnt vilent kills (for that time period). We would always forget why we were mad at each other, giggling over accidently booby trapping ourselve in a room. As for 1 player mode, it's alright. It's the same thing over and over, with not as much laughs as with 2 player mode.

I give this game a five star rating simply because of the fun you can have while playing with a loved one. But if you're looking for hard NES games that both challenge and anger you, this isn't for you. I highly suggest only getting it if you have lots of siblings or friends who you would love to just pester for an hour or so. As for me, I'm waiting till Thanksgiving on my dad's birthday to give it to him. He's been talking none stop about buying it, which I already did. I'm happy with it, he'll be happy with it, and if you're looking for a funny get back at you game, then you will be happy with it to.

Aerobiz Supersonic Review

Aerobiz SupersonicI owned both Aerobiz and Aerobiz Supersonic a decade ago.Though I loved both business sim games I found the first Aerobiz one step ahead in enjoyment ahead of this sequel. If you want a little more chaos in the stock market and thus a little more challenge, Aerobiz Supersonic is the one for you. There are no business sims to compare to these two originals from the SNES, and that's why I'm rebuying them both along with an "antique" SNES.

Silver FC 16 Go Portable SNES System: Plays Super Nintendo Games on LCD Screenthe fc16 go system is awesome. the graphics are spot on as if you were playing on the original super nintendo. except that the backlighting is not like the nintendo ds system. still I am really impressed with this product. with this you can enjoy the super nintendo on the go. I have not yet tried hooking up the fc 16 go to the tv so I do not know how that works yet, also I have yet to scynchronize the wireless controllers yet too. the battery life on this system is around 3 hours. but you get a rechargable battery with this system so having to purchase batteries all the time is out of the question. I am pleased with this product and highly recommend this to anyone interested in buying a portable snes. also the sound quality is pretty good. I have no complaints and you won't either, it is decent. hope this helps with anyone wondering if this is a purchase they should make. Space Invaders Review

Space Invaders"space invaders" is a classic. it has given birth to other games more sophisticated in design, but ultimately would not exist without "space invaders". this snes port is a compilation of four seperate arcade cabinets from back in the day. the game looks good, however this is only a collection of the old arcade games. there is nothing new to be found on this cartridge. this isn't bad if you are looking to relive your glory days in the arcade hall. but if you are too young to remember, then i think the thrill will be lost on you.

Your job is simple: blast the aliens out the sky. When they are decimated, you will move on to the next level. Fortunately, there are several power-ups available including electricity, solar flares, bubbles, shurikens, and others. As you progress through the game, new aliens with new formations will appear, not mention a boss character or two. Disney's Aladdin Review

Disney's Aladdin"Aladdin" is definitely one of my favorite Super Nintendo games. You have to guide Aladdin through many fun and awesome levels such as flying carpet levels, an underground mine level, Genie's level, boss levels, and much more. You have to defeat the enemies and bosses by throwing apples at them or by bouncing on their head. The apples will only stun some of the stronger enemies and the bosses. In most of the levels, you can find a carpet and then use it the rest of that level to slowly float down to certain places by holding L or R.Holding Y while walking, will make Aladdin run and also make your jumps more precise. Throughout each level there are a lot of green gems, which, after you collect 100 of them, you will gain an extra life. There are also the other kinds of needed powerups and items such as one-ups and chicken or bread for energy. In every level in the game, your main objective other than to get through the level is to find as many of the red gems as you can, there are 10 of them in each level. To make it even better, there's a treasure chest in most of the levels which will release a flying beetle, and if you catch it, you will go to a bonus level of sorts where Genie will spin a wheel and you press a button to make it stop, and it can land on certain things that will help you such as 1UP, 2UP, and a Genie icon which will give you an extra heart (more energy capacity for the game). But to get to that bonus level, you have to finish the level after you catch the beetle.
Everything in this game is great. The graphics are colorful and detailed, the controls are top notch, the sound effects are good and you'll recognize most of the music from the movie, and best of all, it's a lot of fun, and I mean A LOT of fun.
"Aladdin" is one of the funnest games I've ever played for any system. There are passwords to help you out after each level, but you probably won't need them. This game is way too easy, but it's a lot of fun to beat over and over again while trying to get all the red gems, which isn't so easy.If you like action/adventure games that have a lot of replay value and that are fun to play anytime, I recommend getting this one.

Baseball Stars Review

Baseball StarsThis game was revolutionary when it came out for adding role-playing elements to an arcade-style baseball game. It's almost 20 years old now and the graphics and sound won't impress anyone now, but still just as much fun as it was then. You can build up your players, release them, sign free agents, make trades, and earn money, adding a whole new dimension that hadn't been seen in the countless other baseball games written for the NES and other computers and consoles of the time.

I can still sit down and play this game for hours, just like my cousin and I did back in 1989. When I've had a hard day at work, this game is one of my favorite ways to unwind. For all I know it's permanently stuck in my NES because I haven't played any other cartridge in it all summer.

Most sports titles are worthless once the new version comes out. This one still sells for about as much as a Mario or Zelda title, and that pretty much says it all. Others tried, but no other baseball game for the NES ever really topped this one.

Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting Review

Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper FightingStreet Fighter 2 was the first fighting game I owned on my SNES and is still one of my favorites.I skipped Champion Edition but when Turbo came out (the one with E Honda fighting Sagat on the cover) I knew it was good enough to buy again. This version features all the original 8 characters plus the 4 bosses, and the ability to fight with each character against himself, but does not include the 4 "new fighters" who are mostly cheap or ... (I really hate T Hawk). This is in my opinion the superior version of Street Fighter 2 on the best system. It seems like the SNES controller was made for this game, and the action so so smooth and beautiful.I had some fun playing this game against the computer but it really shines in versus mode.I cant tell you how many hours my brothers and I played this game but it became as much of a male bonding activity for us as anything.I think i still remember the code to jack up the turbo from the usual 3 stars to 10 (the matches are over in a matter of seconds) up down left right L Y R B or something like that.Man i really want to play this game again, hopefully my copy will arrive soon.It really is the most balanced and accurate fighting game of all time....Hadoken

Spy Hunter Review

Spy HunterThis is the classic top down racing game that first appeared in the arcade. I'm not sure who is the spy and who is the hunter, but you drive your slick white car and a set of machine guns that can shoot whatever is ahead of you. Along the way, you can drive inside of big trucks that will power up your car with other weapons like oil slicks and smoke screens. These have limited uses, but now for the objective.

The objective is to keep driving, seriously. Because it is an arcade game, the game never ends. Paths fork, and send you to some new scenery, but that's it. On the way, there are dark blue cars on your tail though, thick blue cars that are bullet proof and try to ram you off the road. There are cars with tire slashers that will send you spinning off the road and exploding in the scenery. Long blue limos will try to shoot out your tires and finally, helicopters that drop bombs, leaving holes in the pavement.

There are other vehicles on the road, that are not a dark blue color. They are more like innocent civilians that you can still blow away if you choose.

To change the driving of the game there is a point where you can turn your spycar into a spyboat with a new set of enemies. That really sums up the game. Goes on forever, driving along the same road with the same enemies. Its a classic, but not much more fun than a few plays.

Product Description:
A conversion of the arcade game, Spy Hunter is a driving action game played from an overhead point of view. Your car is equipped with machine guns to help you get past the numerous enemies out on the road (be careful not to shoot any civilians, though!) Occasionally you will come across a weapons van, and if you drive into the back of the van your car becomes equipped with a second weapon (such as smoke screen, oil slick, or missiles.) At several points the road splits and you can enter a boathouse which transforms your car into a boat temporarily. If you drive far enough the seasons change as well (watch out for icy conditions during winter!) The enemy cars will do anything to stop you, including running you off the road, firing guns from the back of a limmo, or dropping bombs from a helicopter.

Mario is Missing! Review

Mario is MissingGeography is a subject that many yawn at. Mario is Missing is an interesting game that keeps you attached. The game leads you through countries and cities throughout the world such as London, Kathmandu, Tokyo, and Toronto to reclaim famous landmarks and artifacts stolen by Bowser's henchmen. Though the game is quite outdated in graphics, depth, etc...it is still quite a great game. I strongly recommend this game to anyone who needs to learn some basic geography. This is the game that got me obsessed with the subject.

Thundercade Nintendo NES Review

Thundercade Nintendo NESThundercade is one of those game you'll play a few times and most likely just kinda forget about it. Everything is pretty average. This plays like your typical scrolling up down shooter only here, you speed along on a motorcycle. You can collect various sidecars that power up your attacks but really none of them are as useful as they should be. The controls feel really sluggish and just don't feel as natural and responsive as they should be. The graphics are pretty sour as well, you can identify everything for what it is but everything is very bland and unfinished looking. Another annoyance are the bosses. When you hit them, they don't flash or do anything to really indicate that you've inflicted damage on them at all. The game is very short too, consisting of too few levels which is really a mixed blessing as once you complete it, you'll never play this again. It's not terrible but I would recommend Jackal or Commando first as those are both similar but with much more depth.

Product Description:
Times have changed, but looking at the Wii, Nintendo were always headed in that direction. I remember the commercials when the Power-pad came out and this was the game that was mostly used to advertise the then 'new' accessory. They had aerobics games and right here, you even had a running game. The game is as advertised - track & field. Going off of memory, but you have a series of events that you can go through in a sort of mini-Olympiad. You have a 100 meter dash, high hurdles, long jump and I think there was even the triple-jump as well. The characters that you run against ranged from a slower guy (aptly named "Turtle") and the fastest was I think named "Cheetah". You could also run against your friends on this too. This was released back in the mid-late 1980's, and though you could get the accessory separately there was a Nintendo '3' pack that I think had Track & Field, the gun with duckhunt and Super Mario brothers. While the game was ok, getting to a level to be able to beat the fastest runners proved very difficult to do and some events like the triple-jump were tricky to figure out. Still, for nostalgia's sake, it was a fun game and looking at the exercise aspect, Nintendo was way ahead of the game (no pun intended). I do have one spoiler - so look away if you don't want to know this quasi-cheat... I remember some kids messing around with this and just hitting the pads very quickly with their fists to get the sprinters to run faster. :)

Power Rangers Battle Racers Review

Power Rangers Battle RacersEven now, over ten years after the Power Rangers first hit the airwaves, the Super Nintendo is still the best system to go to for Power Rangers games. Of all the games on the system, the best is probably the one based on The Movie, but Power Rangers Zeo: Battle Racers (or simply "Power Ranger Racers," if you prefer) is most assuredly a good one.
If you've played Super Mario Kart (SMK) - and if you have an SNES, you really should - then you know exactly what to expect. PRR is really a glorified Mario Kart ..., with built-in weapons instead of weapon pickups. The kind of tracks you'll encounter are basically the same (including the beach level, and a level inside the Rangers' HQ that smacks heavily of Rainbow Road with its wall-less dropoffs). Some cars have limited blaster power, some have unlimited; the speed of the cars/cycles combined with the availability and range of the weapons help to balance out the vehicles. All of the blasters have some homing devices involved that lock onto the car closest to them, but only if you're within a fairly close range, which also balances out gameplay a little more.
This isn't quite as deeply involving as Mario Kart, because the 20-or-so tracks can get overly difficult after the second circuit. But for the most part, they're well-designed tracks, with some harder than others. It's those last couple of circuits that will truly get you.
Each character (ranging from all of the Zeo rangers, including Gold, to the villianous King Mondo and a generic Cog) has different strengths and weaknesses, just like in Mario Kart. The graphics are perfectly Ranger-appropriate and just as lush as SMK, and the sound is very nice, especially the rendition of the Zeo theme song that accompanies the game's startup.
If you like Kart racing games like Mario Kart, and you like the Rangers, you could definitely do a lot worse than this. This is one of the best SMK clones that the Super Nintendo ever had, and that's no small feat. A lack of tracks and almost no originality hinder the replay value, but you could do a lot worse than to steal from one of the greatest games on the system, and Power Ranger Racers' two-player races and cup tournaments will keep you coming back either way.

Ghostbusters II Review

Ghostbusters IIThis game is not a bad game, but due to its difficulty at times it is not a great game. The game is based on the movie of the same name and unlike other movie games on the NES this one kinda resembles events in the movie. The sewer scene, the courtroom scene, controlling the statue of liberty, and the final battle with vigo is all here. The latter level though is where the games frustration begins. In this level you are timed and have to play the level 4 times to guide the four ghostbusters to the painting in time to defeat vigo. When you finally finish this you get to the games ending. The levels proceding this level aren't as frustrating. The walking levels are at medium difficulty level and the driving levels are the easiest and most fun levels of the game. I only recommend this game to collectors, fans of the film, and gamers who are more experienced and can deal with the games difficulty level.

M.C. Kids Review

M.C. KidsM.C. Kids is one of those classic Nintendo games that you will never grow tired of. And don't be put off because this is something to do with Ronald McDonald! Put any clown fetishes behind you and play this game.

STORY: Ronald McDonald is in trouble. The Hamburglar has stolen his magic bag of tricks, and now it's up to Mick and Mack to save the day! Traveling throughout McDonald Land collecting cards, solving puzzles, and throwing blocks at baddies, Mick and Mack face quite the challenge.

GAMEPLAY: Mick and Mack are very easily controlled, with the basic Marioish idea. Jump with A, pick up blocks with B, pressing the same to throw them, and crouch and press A for a higher jump. The levels allow you to go from beginning to end and back again, looking for all of the secrets scattered throughout. And trust me, there are plenty of secrets to be found, including the "zipper levels", an entire secret world, and of course, the ever-popular extra lives.

Before you can move on to the next world, you have to find a certain amount of little cards that are hidden throughout the levels of the world. Don't think it's too easy, many of the cards are in places that will make you want to tear every hair out of your head.

GRAPHICS: Being one of the later NES games (1991), M.C. Kids contains some great graphics, somewhat reminiscent of the great Super Mario Bros. 3. While the McDonald's characters are not depicted very well, they are at least recognizable.

OVERALL: This is a great NES game to own and play again and again. The best part of this title probably is the idea of there being a secret world, and all of the other secrets scattered throughout. Concepts not very common in the old games.

TECHNICAL:
2-Players, each taking alternate turns.
2 choices for characters: Mick and Mack, changeable throughout the game in one-player mode.
6 Worlds, plus a bonus Secret World
No saving capability
Credits rolled at end

Ultima III: Exodus Review

Ultima III: ExodusThis is actually the NES adaptation of the home computer game Ultima III: Exodus, but is called Ultima I for NES since it was the first Ultima adapted for Nintendo. Confusing, isn't it. I have played both the Atari 8-bit (which I owned and enjoyed for many years) and NES version of this game (which I only rented to see the difference). The graphics for the Atari 8-bit were very crude, as you expect with 1983 technology (1983 was when Ultima III was first made available for home computers). The graphics on the NES version was better (by 1989 standards, when this version came out), but by today's standard might seem cheesy. If you have ever played the home computer version of Exodus, you'll notice that there are a lot of things that differ on the NES version. On the NES you have the hassle of selecting menus to engage in various activities. Plus the thing I really dislike of the NES version is you can't see monsters roaming the land of Sosaria so you'll never know when you encounter monsters. On Exodus, you are supposed to rid the lands of Sosaria of an evil who goes by the name of Exodus. On the home computer version, you are supposed to collect the Mark of Kings, Fire, Force, and the Snake, and gather the cards of Love, Sol, Moons, and Death, while finding out where to dig for exotic weapons and armor. You must explore all the townes, castles, and dungeons to get important items and information. You'll also need to fight monsters, which will leave behind a treasure chest (which is often boobytraped with acid, bomb, or gas, which a thief in your party can disarm, depending on dexterity) which often has gold which is a big requirement if you want better weapons, armor, as well as food, torches, gems, and powder. Also when exploring the dungeons, the deeper you go, the more dangerous it becomes (particularly the most dangerous monsters, like dragons, daemons, and balrons, are found on the lowest levels). You have to watch out for winds that'll blow your torch out, gremlins that steal your food, traps that might damage your party. In my opinion, I prefer the home computer adaptation, since I loved the convenience of keyboard control, rather than menu control, not to mention, it looked less like a game machine game, and more of a computer game. Not to mention the NES version only came with a wimpy little pamphlet, while the home computer version came with the cloth map of Sosaria, a wizard's spell book, a cleric's spell book, a book of the realm of Sosaria, and a player reference card (that tells you the different keyboard commands). Exodus is basically a historical curiosity these days, but was a really great example of how RPGs were like back in the 1980s. But in these days of Nintendo 64 and Sony Playstation, Ultima: Exodus might seem like a big disappointment, especially in the realm of graphics, but if you bear in mind this is from the 1980s, and you know the technical limitations of the time, you're bound to enjoy this.

Rush 'n' Attack Review

Rush 'n' AttackRush 'n Attack is a very fun side scrolling 2D adventure game. You are a military commando infiltrating the russian base to free hostages and stop the soviets. The nintendo version has two main differences from the arcade version. First of all, it has way better music. The arcade version was limited to a very simple percussion, the NES version has spirited music which enhances the fun of the game. Secondly, the levels are different, and shorter than in the arcade. You might even consider this an entirely new game, as there are different level end bosses, different special weapons on each level, and somewhat different level layouts. I love the arcade, and love the NES version at least as much, and I highly recommend a few play throughs as the difficulty level is fairly high. Do not give up! The hostages are counting on you to free them!

Battle of Olympus, The- Game Cartridge for the Nintendo NES Review

Battle of Olympus, The- Game Cartridge for the Nintendo NESMy mother got me this game one Christmas many moons ago and I really hated it when I first started playing it. In fact, I played it a fair bit when I had it, but soon the SNES came along and I ended up giving my old NES to my nefue & niece.

A few years later I was staying with them and they broke out the old nintendo and I was bored enough to try this game again... I finally figured out what it was you have to do in this game... as a kid I wasnt old enough to understand it I guess, it's very time consuming and it's challenging. I finally figured out that you need to go see Zues as the first thing you do, then you gotta go visit all the other gods and buy things along the way... it took a while to understand and know what to do, but once you do it's actualy a decent game that I would love to see revived one day, maybe even made into a movie?

People have best described this as Zelda in ancient Greece. You walk around killing things to earn points and crystals, but you must go and see the greek gods and get there blessings and recieve certain weapons or items to advance to the next level. Even using codes to cheat my way through it, I still was not able to beat this game, it was very hard and very challenging as where most NES games in those days.

I did see a guy on utube who beat this game in 20 minutes and blew my mind that he did it with such ease and here I am 100 years later and cant even get past Crete. But I still have respect for this old game and I think it should have been more popular then it is.

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers Review

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue RangersMan do I remember this game. And I loved it. So much, that here I am 17 years later on Amazon looking for someone that is selling it, so I can buy it and take that trip back down memory lane.

This video game is based off of the cartoon. Chip and Dale go off to fight Fat Cat. They pick up apples and acorns and throw them at the bad guys. The really cool thing about this game is that both characters are playing with eachother instead of against eachother. Kinda like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles part II. I never did beat this game.....but I am gonna buy it and give it another shot!!!

Classic NES Series: Pac-Man Review

Classic NES Series: Pac-ManPACMAN is the game that basically defined the Arcade. But this isn't the "Classic Arcade Series" its the "Classic NES Series" which means we get the NES version. This is NOT a good thing and while PACMAN is one of the games that will NEVER be forgotten the "Classic NES Series" doesn't capture it in all its glory.PACMAN was a nice classic Arcade game. I wouldn't consider the NES version to be a classic in anyway. There are a few things that stand out as to why.
The gameplay isn't bad. You're PACMAN in a maze eating up little yellow pelts. The Big Pelts give you the chance to capture the ghost.
But as I said some things are just wrong. For example, the Arcade version was a stretched out screen with the score at the top. This version shows the score off to the far right and tries to hard to fit it into the screen. You'll notice that PACMAN, the fruit and the ghost are all bigger than the corridor of the maze.
PACMAN also suffers from what many other Classic NES games suffer from and this one has it bad.For one ITS BEEN RE-RELEASED SEVERAL TIMES!If you have the Namco Museum you're fine (and that's even out on the GBA).Don't buy the classic NES series of PACMAN. Instead buy the Namco Museum package. Not only is it better but its also the Arcade version.

Where's Waldo Review

Where's WaldoThis game is terrible. The graphics are terrible, which makes waldo impossible to find on anything harder than "easy" difficulty. The music is annying and the game can be completed in less than 10 minutes.I have over 50 nes games, and this one if definitly in the top 5 worst games. Do not waste you time with it. The guy that gave it 5 stars obviously never played it. I was very surprised that the game was at $10 used here on amazon. What a joke. Dont waste your time.

Adventures of Lolo Review

Adventures of LoloI feel really sorry for the kids today that are growing up on stuff like Grand Theft Auto and all those other realistic games that just don't need to be games in the first place! When I was growing up in the 80's, (I'm 26 now), there were all these awesome, good quality games that made you feel like you were in another world;it was totally unrealistc and just fun to play.Nowadays, almost every single game features stuff that is just too realistic and doesn't get you away from reality.I was playing games like Super Mario Bros., Adventures Of Lolo, Metroid, Castlevania, and they made me feel like I was in another world.

Adventures Of Lolo is an incredible and very underrated puzzle game, almost as good as Tetris. You go from room to room, floor to floor trying to get to the door at the other side of the room opened. While you are trying to do all these puzzles, many different enemies try to kill you and get in your way. There's this one enemy that always kind of scares me because when they attack, it's really fast and the noise just shocks me.But I just love this game still and wish it would be ported to the GBA or Gamecube or even the Nintendo DS.

I really feel sad for the children growing up today because they will never really get to experience quality games like Lolo, Super Mario Bros. and a lot of those old NES and even SNES games that will always be superior to the games today!Don't get me wrong, I do have some Next Gen games like Mario Sunshine, Castlevania, Final Fantasy and Baiten Kaitos but you know what games like those have versus Grand Theft Auto type games?Fantasy!!Nothing is realistic in those games!!

I'll never understand why gamers all over the world keep saying that they want more realistic stuff!!If I wanted realistic, I'd watch Reality TV!!Give me a game where I'll be transported to another world!Give me a game where nothing is as it seems!Games like Mario and Lolo are what children SHOULD be playing, NOT Grand Theft Auto with cursing and strip clubs!

F-Zero Review

F-ZeroF-Zero was the original mode-7 racing game for the Super Nintendo. Scrolling background layers give the illusion of a 3D track, and you pilot one of four vehicles across multiple courses.

The game's lost quite a bit of shine, mostly because Super Mario Kart took everything Nintendo learned from this experience and improved on it, including adding a two-player mode. Pop this cartridge in and it's easy to see how this game was revolutionary back in the day, but now the backgrounds are bland and flat and the races seem rather slow. The trademark F-zero music is still intact, however.

A decent game for collection purposes, but the GBA versions feel superior, not to mention the 3D NIntendo 64 and Gamecube sequels.

GYROMITE Review

GYROMITEThis game is boring without ROB, but when you have him, Its awesome just to see it work. The ROB system for this game uses spinning Gyros to press down the buttons. It was slow paced, but a real show to watch.
What makes this game special though, is that even if you dont own a ROB, you can open this game up, reverse the large black peice ,exclusive to this games mechanics, switch it upside down, and play Famicon games using the peice. It's hard to explain, but im sure you can find it on the internet.
Overall, dont buy unless you have access to either ROB, or famicon games.

Zanac Review

ZanacThis game has got to be one of the most fascinating NES titles I've ever played. It's not just your average space shooter, although it plays just like one. What makes this game so interesting is that its difficulty level varies depending entirely on the player. THe harder the player fights, the more enemies the game will send after you.
The story is also pretty unique. The universe is governed (to a certain extent), by what is known only as the System. This is a highly advanced computer that continued to evolve long after those who built it had perished. Eventually it covered the entire universe. Now, to those who opened the Icon properly, the System was a source of great wisdom. But to those who dared tamper with the Icon, the System would bring brutal punishment. Most races understood this and were careful never to tamper with it. One day however, someone decided to open the Icon improperly, thereby causing the System to power up its weapons. Then, this daring soul opened the Icon properly. The Icon ordered the System to abort its last command, but by now the System was beyond the Icon's control. It lashed out at those who tampered with it, ultimately bringing humans to the brink of extinction. But there was hope. The AFX-6502 Zanac was an extremely powerful spacecraft equipped with a variety of powerful weapons. Enough had been learned about the System for everyone to know that it had been designed to deal with problems on a universal scale I.E. an army. The humans thought that if they sent just one ship in to destroy the System, it might not be able to cope with it effectively. It was a very big gamble, but it was the only hope for civilization.
Zanac's controls work very well. Control movement with the D-pad and fire weapons with A and B. You fly through twelve stages, each with at least one boss. These are just special turrets of cannons, but each must be destroyed. If you can manage to destroy a fortress within the time limit, you will receive a bonus.
Zanac's music, though not very varied, is still some of the catchiest I've heard in a while. A few of the SFX are heard in a later game, the Guardian Legend. In fact, there are a few things that suggest that Zanac may be the prequel to the Guardian Legend.
I recommend you at least try this game. It's very innovative, for the less aggressive you are, the less agressive the System will be. You can either be a smart person and blow up only what you need to, or you can be the psychotic killer and unload your weapons on anything around you. This is not a good idea for a newby though. Anyway, give this game a try. It's well worth it.

Wizards & Warriors Review

Wizards & WarriorsTodays generation of gamers are exposed to WAY too many sword-slashing adventure/action games on the Playstation 2 and 3, along with the Xbox.It sickens me to see so many games that have the same exact gameplay.

Wizards and Warriors, however, was influential back in the days of the NES, and clearly stands above other games from the same time period. That's because the play control, graphics, and music in the game are all exceptionally good. You won't have ANY trouble moving your character around the screen. The graphics are on the same level as Super Mario Bros. 3, and the music... well, let's just say, the music is so good that a rock band actually covered some of the themes. To me that's proof I'm not the only one who found the music interesting.Other people out there noticed the memorable music, too.Years later, I can still remember a few of the themes.

The game throws in a LOT of enemies for you to battle throughout each world you visit, but it's not like this makes the game difficult. You see, for some reason, the game offers you infinite continues, and you CAN'T DIE unless you simply refuse to hit the continue button.I will never know why they made the game this way.

It doesn't matter, though.Wizards and Warriors is one of the best and most original sword-swinging adventure games you can find for the NES.The fact that the levels you visit are actually giant worlds for you to walk around killing everything in sight, including jumping up high on platforms to find secret areas, makes this a truly wonderful game overall.

Mortal Kombat Review

Mortal KombatMortal Kombat was really weak on the SNES because it was so censored. No blood, some people had different fatalities (ex: Johnny Cage's foot in your stomach). Blood was traded for sweat (?!?!) and because of those 2 reasons, the game was truly brought down a notch.
Yes it's still a classic but it's not worth it on SNES. You're better off getting it on the SEGA system because that way you could overcome the censorship and at least put in a "blood code".
Personally, I'd skip this one anyday and go straight to MK II because that was just all out better than MK and it was a lot more enjoyable, had better replay and a lot more characters. Trust me, skip MK on SNES and go straight for MK II on SNES.

Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run Review

Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning RunI got this game for just $4 off Amazon.com with high hopes for a Super Nintendo baseball game.

Wow.Terrible isn't even a strong enough word to describe this mess.

This reminds me of so many movie video games which slap the name on their hoping kids would buy them but the actual game is horrible.

First off, the graphics on this game are just atrocious.Play a game like Super Bases Loaded, a VERY early release for the SNES, and you'll see just how superior a baseball game it is.

Another major problem:Because I believe Tecmo had the MLB rights back during this time, the only REAL player you get in the game is Ken Griffey Jr.Everyone else are a bunch of false names. That might work for you but it's a little misleading when you see Ken Griffey on the cover only to not see the players on your favorite team.

But what really just BREAKS this game is the actual gameplay. You literally cannot control your pitching outside of the speed.Making a ball curve? No way.Though the computer has no problem. :)Batting and fielding are just about as bad.As I mentioned in the title, you get a FAR better experience with games like Baseball and Baseball Stars for the originaly NES then you will ever get with this game.

If you want a much deeper baseball experience, I recommend MLB Power Pros for the PS2, it can be had for around $5-10 bucks, and trumps games like this easily.

For the SNES, Baseball Simulator 1.000 is pretty much the standard bearer on the system IMO for a baseball game.Super Bases Loaded also is a much better game.

Save your $4 and just pass on this one.You will be glad you did.

Ice Climber: Classic NES Series Review

Ice Climber: Classic NES SeriesIce Climber is one of those NES games that wasn't really too popular and until Super Smash Brothers Melee, it was almost forgotten about. But now its been released as a part of Nintendo's Classic NES series.Though I have to wonder how it got here.Ice Climber is a classic based on its age but not so much its popularity. But it is still pretty fun to play even nearly 20 years later.
Ice Climber is a pretty simple game to grasp. You play as two eskimos who climb a mountain. The game has about 32 mountains to climb and you can link up with a friend and scale the mountain alongside him or her.You have to climb the mountain as the level scrolls killing enemies in your way with your hammers. It's a pretty easy concept to grasp just like the other NES classics.
Ice Climber is more worthwhile than other classics. The 32 mountains will keep you busy for a while but the game is really easy to complete just the same.
The Graphics and Sound are no where near the standards of today's GBA game and no gamer should expect them to be. That's what the "Classic NES Series" banner at the top is made to tell us.
The other problem is if you have an E-Reader you can easily buy Ice Climber on that and save yourself some money.Overall though, Ice Climber is a pretty fun game but it isn't as up to scale as the rest of the classic NES series.

Classic NES Series: Excitebike Review

Classic NES Series: ExcitebikeExcitebike is one hell of a good game and now it is revived on the Gameboy Advance. Those who loved the original and want it here unchanged can have that.
Excitebike once again has a nice and easy to get used to way of playing. You press the B and A buttons to accelerate. The B buonn pushes you along faster but you also have a bar at the bottom of your screen. Once it fills up you have to let your bike sit for a while until it cools down. Not to mention that you also race against three other drivers going over bumps and whatnot. The real task at hand isn't to beat the other three players but to beat the time.
Excitebike was the first racing game to have a track editor. Unfortunately on the NES you couldn't save that track. But on the GBA you actually can save it. My gripe is you can only save one track which bites.
There are a couple of other problems. If you have an E-Reader you can get Excitebike there. The other is simply that the GBA has had to have some of the graphics squashed down to fit the screen. This shouldn't pose any real problems though.
Excitebike is a grand game and one of the true classics in the Classie NES Series.Along with "Super Mario Bros." and of course "The Legend of Zelda" this is what you should get.

Pirates! (NES) Review

PiratesIf you're into the pirate thing, you definitely want to check this game out.The game centers around the Caribbean and you start by picking your nationality, skills and time period. Then, its a matter of gaining as much gold, land and fame (or sometimes infamy)as you can before you get old and are forced into retirement.Whether its running missions for governors, being a bounty hunter, following up on treasure maps or just plundering all the towns along the coasts, there's a lot of fun to be had with this game.Oh, and if you develop enough 'prestige' with the different nations, their governors will start introducing you to their daughters (!!).. and the wealthier the town, the better.. ..I always tried to marry the red-head, but she's hard to find :D
But like I said, after so long, you get old and are basically forced to retire at which point you are given a final ranking... I was never able to get the top ranking, which I think was becoming a governor, but I got 5th place once which was a 'sugar planter' .. oh well, just call me sugar daddy I guess. Overall, a very good game for the nes that will never play the same way twice.

Product Description:
Ahoy, You Swarthy Gold Swiping, Ship Sinking Sea Dog! Modern warfare is no match for the fierce realism of six historically accurate seventeenth century pirate raids along the Spanish Main. Aye, Matey! That's why plundering and pillaging are back in style, as you command the role of a high seas high-jacker. Either an English Buccaneer, Dutch Adventurer, Spanish Renegade or French Explorer, each with a different skill level and strategic impact. As a swashbuckling scoundrel, you'll barter with enemy merchants, trade for hidden treasure maps, negotiate with unscrupulous governors, and forge alliances with monarchs who'd just as soon stab you in the back than float you a loan for new ships. But that's only half the battle! You'll also assault towns, sword fight with garrison commanders, lay siege to forts, and fire your cannons broadside at an armada of naval foes, including Spanish War Galleons, Dutch Frigates, French Merchantmen and English Sloops. Arrrrg, Me Swabby! Don't think it's all fun and destruction. Because if your bloodthirsty crew isn't kept happy boarding and burning enemy vessels, or if your navigation skills leave them shipwrecked on a jagged Carribean reef, they won't think twice about using you for shark bait. Fortunately if events do take a nasty turn, you can save the statistical loot you've captured and return with a vengeance on another day. So keep your eye (the one that doesn't have a patch over it!) on your ultimate objectives - power, fame, prestige, gold, land, and the hand of a beautiful maiden - and you'll find the sailing smooth and your "red beard" scraggly!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TMNT Tournament Fighters [Nintendo Super NES] Review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TMNT Tournament FightersThere's been quite a few Street Fighter II clones, and most have been pretty shoddy. TMNT: Tournament Fighters holds up quite well, especially for Turtles fans. There are 10 selectable characters plus two playable bosses, for a total of 12. Besides the four turtles, characters are drawn from the cartoon, original comic books, and Archie series, making for a unique blend. The most interesting inclusion is Karai, who was established in the comics but only entered the mainstream with the 2003 animated series.

Graphics are well-realized and detailed, the fighters animate smoothly. Some more background animation and activity would've been appreciated, as well as unique finishing poses (instead of simply being a freeze of one of the character's moves). Music is forgettable but unobtrusive. The games' biggest letdown is that it only uses 4 buttons instead of the Street Fighter 6, but the fighting engine is still pretty good. There are even chargable super moves that can quickly turn the tide of battle.

TMNT fans will want to track this game down. Fans of the genre should also feel safe adding it to their collection.

John Elway's Quarterback (NES) Review

John Elway's QuarterbackI remember this being a great arcade game, but the NES version is a poor translation. If you're playing against the computer, it will always be the default New York. It's almost impossible to lose against the computer. It never punts on 4th down, but instead almost always throws an interception. Tackling the receiver seems to insure an interception. On offense, simply hold down the B button and move the arrow until it's near a receiver, then release. It doesn't really matter much what play you run though shotgun and bomb are the safest. The computer middle linebacker always rushes so you don't have to worry about coverage on the receivers. Finally, if you let the play selection clock run out, the default play is a weak line of scrimmage but if you pass the ball quickly to one of the open receivers, he then out-runs the defense, at an abnormally rapid speed, for an easy touchdown. The graphics and sound are the basic, early-period NES vintage. It may be a good two-player football game though.

John Elway's Quarterback is the home video game you've been waiting for. So real you can see the game like a quarterback does, from the line of scrimmage. You call the plays, you throw the passes, run the ball, and make the tackles. It's third down and a long four yards to the first down that will stop the clock. No time-outs left. The weak side linebacker is lined up inside his defensive end. They're coming! You check-off the play at the line of scrimmage and call for a quick pass to the tight end. He breaks it for a T.D.! This is the game made for every kid who ever wanted to play the game as well as John Elway.

Which unfortunately was the main reason i purchased this.
Just like the original old front loading NES,some games need to be reseated a few times to work.
While others seem to work on the first boot.
I even cleaned my cartridges prior to using the system,to avoid the possibility of dirty contacts.

Also dragon warrior 2 doesn't work,i suspect the same games that don't work on the FC Twin and the YOBO NES may be the case with this one also.

Some other gripes i have with the system
Build quality is cheap.
The small foot print and lightness of the system makes cartridge removal a pain.
You have to pickup the system to remove NES carts.

Gamepad cords could be about 2 feet longer and could be slightly bigger.

NES sound playback has line noise from the power supply.

After addional play testing
I found some genesis games actually slow down and speed up while playing.
Poor emulation or the processor isnt up to snuff.

Ignore my original 3 star rating.
If you can find a used genesis cheap, you may be beter off.
