Wheel of Fortune Review

Wheel of FortuneWhile this version for the super nintendo does have many more questions and such than the version for the original nintendo it loses its novelty fairly quickly. I really wouldn't recommend this game, as if you've played it once, you will most likely be getting many of the same puzzles as previous play throughs. It isn't very fun when you know what the answer is before any clues are given. I don't know why you want to collect this game, and that is the only reason I can think of to get it. 2 stars because of repetition, which leads to low replay value, which makes it pretty boring even when played with friends.

Wario's Woods Review

Wario's WoodsI was real disappointed with this game. I thought it was a story mode game with Wario "himself". Then I realized it has NOTHING to do with Wario At All!!! NOT COOL!!!

7th Saga Review

7th SagaFor all true RPG gamers, this game is a must for your collection. These days, almost every RPG you play makes it so easy for you, ie. FFX, where your health completely rejuvenates at every save point! Games such as this one are so classic and old school that they make it a true challenge. It's one of the hardest games I've ever played; if you hate leveling up and being strategic and having to THINK in battles, this game isn't for you. But this is why I love it. You're not just sitting there and "kill, kill, kill," but you must think or else you'll never get farther.
Leveling up does great, but it doesn't always cut it. Strategy is the main key to this game. Think about this...you're stuck on a boss character, so you go level up for six hours and come back, and low and behold, the boss has also leveled up and is even harder! This is why no matter how strong you are, the battles will still be a challenge. This is sort of annoying at times, but overall makes the game much more smart.
Sorry for rambling, let me tell you a little about the game's story. You get to choose between 7 characters in the beginning. It took me a few times to actually find out what character I liked the best. They all have certain advantages and disadvantages. For instance, Esuna (female elf) is extremely powerful with magic and has great agility, but is so phsyically fragile that one blow can often kill her. Quite the opposite of Lux (the robot) who has very strong defense and requires no armor, but isn't very good with magic and has slow speed. Your mission is to go out and find the seven runes scattered over Ticondera. Whoever finds them all will gain a huge amount of power and will be able to control the world.
One of the neatest features in the game is that you can find the other 6 warriors looking for the runes in towns throughout the game. You can talk to these people and they will either want to become your companion, fight you, or just to say something silly. It's always wise to have a companion with you, and especially one that balances you out.
There's not much else to say, except that the game is extremely hard. It's always the little things though, so as your armor never gets strong enough, you don't gain levels fast enough, and most annoyingly, you can only carry up to 9 of each item at a time! (Think only 9 potions in a horrific dungeon!) But that is what makes up the beauty of the game. I definitely recommend it.

Breath of Fire II Review

Breath of Fire IIBreath of Fire is another RPG classic series. It was Capcom's experiment into the genre as Squaresoft ventured on with their Final Fantasy series. When I first heard of Breath of Fire, I played the first game for Super NES and liked it.Breath of Fire 3 just wasn't all that great to me, and while it wasn't a terrible game, it didn't have the classic feel the first game had.My friend Karl (reviewer Karl Jordan, Kudos to him) enlightened me by showing me Breath of Fire 2.
And boy have I been enlightened. After playing hours on end of this game, BREATH OF FIRE 3 IS VASTLY OVERRATED.This game has all the classic elements an RPG needs!
THE GOOD
A wonderful storyline involving a fake religion and Ryu's "misplaced childhood" is one of the best written RPG stories. This same storyline has been used countless times, even within the series, but no other game pulled it off as well as this. The characters are awesome and I think this has the best Ryu and Nina out of all the Breath of Fire games. The graphics are reasonably good, considering it's an early SNES game. The music?Very good, indeed. There are times when it sounds like Final Fantasy and at others, Mega Man X!Simply great music. Not perfect, why carp? The battle system is also good in the fact that you can do different abilities (examples: Nina can use "Will" to revive her MP, Sten uses "RiP" to play dead, etc. etc.).For some odd reason, this hasn't carried over into the other games in the series afterwards.
THE BAD
The only bad things I can say about the game are these:
1) Ryu's dragon transformation is really lackluster here, and it's been improved upon in later BoF entries.
2) The translation isn't all that great.
OVERALL
CLASSIC.Definitely a fine RPG if I ever saw one.I'm not sure why BoF 3 is considered the best by many; then again, in this day and age, hardly anyone ever cares for the old games.BoF 3, in my opinion, is a decent game overall but lacks the great qualities that this game possesses. It's a shame that this game goes unnoticed in today's gamers.

Kowloon's Gate (Japanese Import Video Game) Review

Kowloon's GateKowloon's Gate is the sort of game that never had a chance with the early-era American market - it was far too intense for the sensibilities of the more mainstream producers of the era. That said, I heartily recommend it if you can find a copy...revealing even a little could spoil a large portion of the masterfully told story, but rest assured, it is even to this day a journey into the macabre that will not be forgotten.

Kirby's Dream Land 3 Review

Kirby's Dream Land 3this was the first kirby game I have ever played! and now I own lots! but anyway, as my first kirby game this is my first review. as a hard core kirby fan I have to say that I like the scribble graphics and it's fun and challenging to get the true ending by collecting all the heart stars. but however it only gets four stars because the 2 player mode is lame because the second player has no freedom, as if it goes offscreen it goes back to player 1, and the difficulty to get all 30 heart stars is a factor. but the number one reason why is because it gets monotonous the third or fourth replay. however, it is a great first kirby game although I would suggest kirby's dream land instead. all in all, this game is money well spent.
