Hoops Review

Hoopsgameplay is a little off, hard to make shots without fouling, hard to drive to the hoop without fouling, much better when u play 2 on 2 than 1 on 1 because the running around by 4 characters creates a lot more opportunities to score

Mission Impossible Review

Mission ImpossibleFor starters, this game is not for people who don't like a challenge. Second, this game is based on the 1980's revival of the show that lasted two years. Fans of this incarnation of the show will recognize the attention to detail put into this game. The game is played from a top down view with you, the player, controlling your agent on screen.I'm not going to reveal the names of the agents but your leader is of course Jim Phelps. The game itself is broken down into top down character levels and chase sequences which remind me of an episode of the show. The challenge factor for this game is really high. Each agent has their strengths and their weaknesses depending on your situation. Sometimes, though, it seems that the difficulty level was cranked up too high for some stages while others can be your typical beat'em up variety.Other than the high yet spotty challenge, this is a great game for one of the greatest game systems of all time. This review will self destruct in five seconds. Good luck, customer!

NES Open Tournament Golf Review

NES Open Tournament GolfThis is by far my favorite golf game for the NES. The biggest reason it is so fun is it stars Mario and his Nintendo friends and nemesis. Plus, the gameplay and graphics are excellent for a NES game. This is a game that both Mario and golf fans will enjoy!

Exodus: Journey To The Promised Land game for Nintendo NES Review

Exodus: Journey To The Promised Land game for Nintendo NESIn my lifetime as a "gamer", I have played challenging games (Mario, Zelda, etc.) on consoles ranging from the Nintendo Entertainment System to the XBOX 360, as well as being a huge fan of the "Myst" PC games. That being said, "Exodus" for the NES is easily the most difficult video game I have ever attempt (and am confident I ever will attempt).

This game, from the now long-defunct religious-based company Wisdom Tree, completely rips off the NES game Crystal Mines (apparently copyright laws were not enforced in the 1980s!), instead inserting Bible hero Moses as the main character in his quest to collect enough manna and question marks (yes, a strange game indeed) to complete each stage.

For about the first 15 (out of 100) stages, the game is relatively straightforward and quite fun, as you must use both your action skills and thinking cap to defeat each level.Very quickly, however, the game goes from fun to difficult, then to mind-boggling, and finally to downright impossible.

Two main factors make this game the peak of gaming difficulty: First, like many NES games, is the fact that your Moses is defeated with just one "hit", making you have to run a perfect level to succeed. However, what really amps up the difficulty is that each level is essentially a puzzle in order to collect all the requisite items and find the hidden exit.Items must be strategically moved, baddies strategically taken care of, and most of the time (at least in the later levels) there is only ONE solution...leading to hours of head-banging, controller-flinging frustration.Remember the old PC game Klotski?Imagine playing that on a clock with guys trying to kill you, and that is the gist of Exodus.

All in all, though, this is actually a pretty fun game for those of you who don't mind a challenge (i.e. Myst fans may be up to the challenge, while those who revel in first-person shooters will not). The highest level I have ever seen reached in the game was 97, at which point it takes Mr. Dream-like reflexes and mind to rival NASA scientists.Has anyone in the history of gaming ever actually beaten the game?If so, please comment!

Kirby's Adventure Review

Kirby's AdventureYes, children, there used to be an 8 bit system called the NES. By the time Kirby was released on it, the SNES had taken over, with its superior graphics and sound.

But Kirby is a labour of love. Rather than make some piece of trash as the last great NES game, the makers polished it and polished it until you can almost see your face in it. The graphics stretch the 8 bit format to its absolute limit. This is the aesthetic equivalent of painting the Lord's Prayer on a grain of rice - the beauty is that of working WITHIN the limitations. Kirby himself is a beautiful vibrant pink, the worlds he passes through are delicious lime greens, ice blues, chocolate browns - the rich colours do not attempt to emulate 16 bit, but instead try to make 8 bit as beautiful as possible

Likewise the sound. Kirby makes the cutest "ooh" and squeaking noises; the music is well-composed and works wonderfully within the confines of an 8 bit synthesiser.

The gameplay is also polished, with an intuitive beauty to the controls. It's a finger dance to play this game - an experience of control and aesthetics that few games can match.

Farewell, little NES! Maybe you will be reincarnated in a future century...
