TMNT III Manhattan Review

TMNT III ManhattanI thought I had played all the turtles game's back in the day, but recently I found out about this one. I'd never heard of it before!!! I spose if I's ever bothered to take notice i'd see that the original was 1, the arcade to nes was 2, Turtles in Time (arcade/snes) was 4 and tournement fighters was 5... leaving this as the 3rd.

I played it recently via emulation and it's pretty much just like the arcade(2). The game is actualy suprsingly good even by todays standard of gaming. The graphics arnt supurb, but there not that bad tho, the controls are easy and the game is fun.

You can pick all 4 turtles who each have a special move each. To execute it you push A then B, or B then A, one or the other. (jump then attack) Leo will spin around on the spot whirling his kitana blades around, Donny flips foward with two good bo shots, Raph does the Phyco Crusher (torpedo) and Mikey leaps into the air feet first and does a super kick.

The new aditional moves made the game a lot better then just simple button mashing all the time. All the baddies are back, tonne of foot soldiars, Rocksteady, Bepop, rock soldiars, mousers, flying robots and new to the list of boss' is a few unknowns and Tokka and Razaa from the TMNTII movie, as well as Leatherhead.

Fight it out to save April then go to defeat Krang and the Shredder.

It would be great to see them revive these games someday. This particuler version I think should just be the next level after the last of the Arcade(2) game and extend the game's levels. It seemed kinda short, just like the Arcade, it doesnt take long to beat it. So add 2,3&4 together and it would be a nice continues long game.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time Review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time" has always been one of my favorite Super Nintendo games. If you've ever liked the earlier TMNT games for the regular Nintendo, or TMNT 2 in the arcades, you'll definitely like "Turtles In Time."The object of the game is to eventually get to the Technodrome and defeat Shredder. There are a lot of challenging and fun levels that you'll have to get past before you even get close to Shredder. The levels range from a dinosaur level where the foot soldiers ride stampeding dinosaurs and try to run over you, to a level where you're inside a train and you have to battle a boss in the form of a crocodile, and even some fun bonus levels.
"Turtles In Time" is a great game in every way.You can defeat most of the enemies with punches, kicks, jump kicks, powerup moves, and my favorite, by throwing them at the screen. At the end of every level are some familiar bosses such as Krang, Rocksteady, and Shredder, and even some new bosses that have never been seen before in any other TMNT game. The graphics in "Turtles In Time" are impressive and colorful, the sound and music goes good with the levels, the control is top notch, and best of all, it's one of the most fun games available for the Super Nintendo.
You can play "Turtles In Time" either one player or two player, either way it's jammed with fun.The game overall isn't too easy or impossibly hard, it's perfect when it comes to the challenge.Even after you beat the game, it's still a lot of fun to start over and beat it again or play 2 player.Even after playing the game for over 5 years, I still like playing it every now and then.If you have a Super Nintendo and if you like action/adventure games or side scrolling fighting games, "Turtles In Time" is a must have!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game Review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade GameOk, this was 20 times better than the first Ninja Turtles game. What was Ultra/Konami thinking when designing the first game!?I'm not goin' strike at them hard because of the graphics, but the unfair difficulty, lack of actual Ninja Turtle characters, different abilities of each Turtle (making two of the four useless), and lack of connection with the cartoon series made the first game less than mediocre.Although the first game was a hit, Ultra Soft and Konami knew the messed up and they promised that the sequels will have better gameplay and characters, designed for younger kids (main target audience of Ninja Turtle fan base).

Ok, I do admit that the graphics were far inferior from the original arcade release, but a 8-bit console has techinical limitations and the game had to be designed to fit in with the limits and it has. The NES version's graphics were advanced for its time and it followed other arcade gameplays with only a few, but better exceptions.Adding two new levels was innovative (along with advertising Pizza Hut - you get a free pan pizza coupon with the purchase of the game), and so was adding three new bosses. Some of the original levels were longer than in the arcade version, but it was fun and a bit easier than the quarter sucking machine. Best thing of all were the choice of ninja turtle characters from the cartoon, with a few made up mini characters and bosses like Torra and Shogun.Rock Solider leaders, Granitor and General Tragg were the main bosses, Krang was the second to last boss (finally), you get to fight Baxter Stockman in not only human form, but also in his mutated form (instead of a rematch with Bebop and Rocksteady - probaly due to technical contraints for the NES), and Shredder may be more difficult than in the previous game, but you won't get bored in fighting him and the clones and wacking them several times with three different turtle moves (make sure you get the right one and watch out for his ligthing bolt sword).Instead of firemen, butterflies, flying robot heads, and all the other BS made-up enememies from the previous game, you get to battle hundreds of multi-colored footsoldiers whose attack and choice of weapon is unique with its color (this continues for the next two games). They also ride in helicopters, motorcycles, vehicles and skateboards.Other mini enemies include Mousers (of course), Roadkill Rodneys (from the second episode of the cartoon), Tubular Transports (flying robot flies that were used as Shredder's survalience on the third episode of the series), flying knife throwing ninjas, tigers, and more.

The levels were real fun (especially the expressway mini level where you ride your skateboard and knock out the foot soliders. The overall game was exciting and innovative and still is.The only flaw about this game is not adding a four player co-op like from the arcade (The NES just released a NES Satalite that allows two additional players in select games, so there was no excuse for not adding Turtles 2 and 3 to the list).I still play it in my old NES, so those that don't have an NES, get it for your Virtual Console, once they release it cause its fun.I will gurantee you that the third and fourth game are much more fun!!!
