Clayfighter II Review

Clayfighter III thought ClayFighter 2 was O.k. They added a lot of new characters like a muscle head Rabbit commando, boxing Kangaroo and of course, they brought back some of the favorites like Bad Mr Frosty and the Blob.
I really don't have too much to say about this one. If you played the original Clayfighter than you know what to expect. I will admit, this game was funny and very entertaining. I wasn't all that challenged (fights were a little easy and some what predictable) but I did have fun.
This is a definite renter first because it's totally different from the last because not as many of the original characters returned for this one. Either way, check it out and see what you think.

Super Smash TV Review

Super Smash TVthis game like others have said is hard. for it's day it was pretty face paced and does require a degree of strategy.Since there are so many different enemies you have to devise a strategy that works best to take them on...not only that they will mix the types later on so that one trick pony idea won't work.yeah this is one of my favorite SNES games.Even though my brother and I beat this game as many times as you can the replay is still great.

Double Dragon II: The Revenge Review

Double Dragon II: The RevengeAnyone that has a Nintendo Entertainment System and two controllers should have this game. It's a co-op beat-em-up and one of the finest 8-bit games ever created. You play as one of two brothers looking for your kidnapped girlfriend.

The levels are great. You fight through factories, car lots, and rooftops. The rooftops has to be one of the best levels on the game as it contains a platform feeling to it. The game features a variety of weapons, from knives to baseball bats. Nothing says beat-em-up though like team damage and throwing your friend off a building to his death. The only awkward thing with the game is the kicking. When you kick, you are actually kicking backwards. It's not a glitch, but it's something that has to get used to.

The game is fairly long and difficult, but not too difficult where you can't complete the game. The ending is extremely hard, but that's how games worked back then: hard bosses. Any fan on beat-em-ups, arcade games, or co-op gameplay will enjoy the magic displayed in this classic game.

Super Street Fighter II Review

Super Street Fighter IISuper Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, released for the SNES in 1994, is the sequel to SF II Turbo: Hyper Fighting. After the success of the previous SF2 games, Capcom wasn't about to release Street Fighter III yet. Instead it tweaked the cast of the previous games a bit, gave them a variety of new coloured outfits and introduced four new fighters: Cammy (a British intelligence officer), T. Hawk (a massive red Indian), Fei Long (a Bruce Lee look and act-alike, probably the answer to Mortal Kombat's Liu Kang...) and Dee Jay (a crazy jamaican full-contact fighter). Considering all this, the game has to be even better than SF2 Turbo, right? That's not quite the case though...
I understand that the arcade game changed the way it sounds from its predecessors by using new "Q sound" technology. Probably due to this, the sound effects and music quality in the SNES conversion is quite poor. I never realised that audio actually plays an important part in fighting games till I played this...especially since I played SF2 Turbo before. The energetic, deep voice of the announcer of Turbo is gone. It is replaced by a boring and clumsy-sounding voice. It is great that the characters sound different from each other this time around, but some character voices are pretty lame, especially the K.O. sounds made by M.Bison (Vega in Japan) and Guile. And don't even get me started on the "Sonic Boom" voice of Guile or the "Tiger Uppercut" voice of Sagat or the "Hadoken" voice of Ken. Very lame, indeed. The background music is okay, but lacks the quality of Turbo by a wide margin.
Then to the graphics. Again, must be the fact that the "Ryu Intro" took up too much memory. The visuals are dull and are almost Sega Genesis quality. However the new backgrounds are pretty decent to look at. Moving onto the gameplay. The ability to play in turbo speed is gone. It's back to three-star speed again. Playing it in anything less than that is a horrible experience. The original cast have their moves either improved or weakened or new moves gained. For example, Ken has gained a flaming dragon punch, whereas Ryu's hurricane kick is severely weakened. Guile has lost the ability to connect twice with his flash kick, as has Sagat with his close-up fierce kick. Among the new characters, Fei Long and Cammy are interesting, Dee Jay is awkward but powerful and T. Hawk is a clumsy, Zangief-ish wrestler with some style. To freshen things up there are various modes in the game, including super battle, versus battle, group battle, tournament and time challenge, plus new endings for some of the original cast.
Overall it seems Super SF2 is quite a solid game which will satisfy Street Fighter fans without a doubt, and is more enjoyable than many of the other SNES fighting games, but lacks the long-lasting appeal of its predecessors due to the average visual and audio quality.

Pit-Fighter Review

Pit-FighterPit Fighter has to be the worst fighting game of all time. First of all, the graphics are really crappy. Everything has a grainy look to them, and the fighters don't even have faces! The music (if you want to call it that) is annoying and keeps repeating itself throughout the game. The way the fighters sound is pathetic as well. They all sound like they're choking on something when they are attacking. The animation in this game is choppy (seems to move at 1/2 frame a second) and its common for characters to just "glide" across the screen without moving their feet. Sometimes the enemies slam you without even showing an animation for it, you just somehow land on your back. But the worst thing about Pit Fighter is the awful gameplay. The controls are unresponsive and the collision detection is out of wack, as attacking enemies is a matter of luck and not skill. You have a choice to play as 3 different fighters that each have their own special moves but they all control like crap. If all of what I mentioned about this game seems like fun to you, then go ahead and torture yourself by playing it. Otherwise stay clear of this PITiful game.

Battletoads Review

BattletoadsAt the time this game was notorious for its inability of most of the general public to get past level 3.Most kids at the time just couldn't.And for a game that has it's content so well designed for kids (a TMNT rip-off, 'toad tongue-in-cheek) this is unfortunate since the dynamics of each of the 12 levels are incredibly varied.Really the game itself isn't a kid's difficulty level.I've heard many deem it the TOUGHEST NES game ever, arguably more so than even Metroid.Because much of it can only be done from memorizing the map (like dodging walls in the speeder / level 3), it will invariably take a few games PER LEVEL.There are no passwords although there are warps (a real gamer won't need them). There's many, many highlights beyond 'level 3' - the Surf level, the giant snakes, the Elevator Shaft, and if you're lucky, the Dark Queen's tower. You'll be doing anything from fighting 'Double Dragon' style to Castlevania-platforming to dodging obstacles in your plane, unicycle, speeder, whatever. The monsters and sense of humor the game provides make the whole thing move magnificently + STILL make me wonder if this has a cancelled cartoon show pilot somewhere...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighters Review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament FightersThis game is a simple fighting game with the turtles as the fighters, i loved this game when i was younger and its still one of my favorites. The best part is if you fight against your friends as casey jones, or the best Shredder.
