Pin Bot for Nintendo NES Review

Pin Bot for Nintendo NESThis was one of the NES games that we owned while I was a child. I was born when the NES was about 1 to 2 years out into our states. I got the first Nintendo Power resting in some box somewhere so I lived during that age.

Pinbot is very nice for its music. Its just pure techno and keeps you pumped up. The sound effects are nice as well. Hearing whrills to bumps to smashes, crashes and rumbling effects. The screen always keeps the two paddles on the bottom in view, while fallowing the ball ontop.

Also the robot talks. In robot speech which it sounds awesome to the point...that you don't care that you can't quite understand it till the 5th lissen of it.

The gameplay is about as fair as a Pinball system can get. I can say with out a dout though that the Wii version of Pinbot is completely different than the NES one. playing both I feel like the NES one is nicer...well sort of.

Saddly the company that made the game added video game pinball logic. Which means they added things are are imposable to be in the real pinball machine. According to game guides there's gonna be little Missie guys, and aliens, and all sort of pesky things in the middle of the playing field to mess ya up. This happens after your score a Solar bonus during multiball. If You can avoid this do so.

However I never got very far into the game, only to the point where a alien monster will slowly turn its self into the middle and turn into a black hole. Litterly, it will draw your ball in very easily, chew it up, and spit it down into the gutter with no chance to save it. NONE, the graphic shows a chewed up pinball....but I still love it. The music is a must to hear at lest. And for a pinball game I say it does pretty well...if only those mini games were left out.

Theres 4 player mode for scoring, options to turn the music/sound off, and some nice graphics. Overall the music just rocks so much and keeps the game exciting...until you see that monster who can swallow your ball. Even with that the game just purely rocks as a fun game. And maybe a nice Pinball game.

Gun.Smoke Review

Gun.SmokeThere's a lot of NES games that don't stand the test of time very well and/or are just plain terrible games! This Gunsmoke game however is one of the better games on the NES and one of the best games I purchased on Amazon. I only test-played the first stage so far, but even from that I could tell that this game has great potential. I don't know if this game has anything to do with the t.v. western series "GUNSMOKE"? I think it just has the same title, but I'm not sure. Boy, I sure wish there was a game based on the "BONANZA" t.v. series! That's my favorite.

AV Famicom and Disk System Original Nintendo Hardware (Japanese Import Video Game Console) Review

AV Famicom and Disk System Original Nintendo HardwareIf you are familiar with the American 8-Bit Nintendo, than you already know what this game system is like. It's the exact same thing as a Nintendo, but it plays imported games from Japan and allows you to use a Famicom Disk System which are usually very hard to find.

Some of the better games for Famicom include Gradius II, Rockman 3 (which is slightly different level designs in 3 levels from the American Mega Man 3), Super Mario 2 (not Super Mario 2 USA [vegetable pickup game]), Ike Ike Nekketsu Ice Hockey Bu (Ice Hockey Challenge unreleased in USA), an easier version of Battletoads, Zelda no Densetsu Hyrule Fantasy (FDS), and Zanac (FDS version).

I highly recommend adding this to your Nintendo collection if you are big into old games or just Nintendo in general. Being a top-loading game system, it has better functionality than the front loading NES which most require blowing into the games now.

The game system itself looks nice, isn't very heavy, and doesn't take a lot of room to store next to your TV. The A/V cable system is genius! I think Nintendo had the plan to make all the game systems use the same A/V cable for every game system to reduce the number of wires hanging around which is actually a good idea. Just leave your A/V wires for the N64, Gamecube, SNES, SFC, and the Famicom just hanging there and swap the game systems out!! Right now, my N64, Super Famicom, and Famicom are all sharing the same A/V cables!

Great system! Fun to play! Nice addition for any Nintendo fan!!!

Silver FC 16 Go Portable SNES System: Plays Super Nintendo Games on LCD Screen Review

Silver FC 16 Go Portable SNES System: Plays Super Nintendo Games on LCD Screenthe fc16 go system is awesome. the graphics are spot on as if you were playing on the original super nintendo. except that the backlighting is not like the nintendo ds system. still I am really impressed with this product. with this you can enjoy the super nintendo on the go. I have not yet tried hooking up the fc 16 go to the tv so I do not know how that works yet, also I have yet to scynchronize the wireless controllers yet too. the battery life on this system is around 3 hours. but you get a rechargable battery with this system so having to purchase batteries all the time is out of the question. I am pleased with this product and highly recommend this to anyone interested in buying a portable snes. also the sound quality is pretty good. I have no complaints and you won't either, it is decent. hope this helps with anyone wondering if this is a purchase they should make. I was sceptical at first but now I am happy with my purchase.5 stars all around!!!

Classic USB NES Controller for PC Review

Classic USB NES Controller for PCGames Played - Tetris 2, 1943, Punch Out, and more!

Man, have I been waiting for a product like this for years! Aside from the small wait of transit for the product, it's actually quite worth it.

First Impressions:
-Nicely packaged, sealed on the corners
-USB port is wrapped and taped to prevent transit damage
-cable is nice and long, I think a little over 6 ft
-You can tell the item is new when you try it, the buttons click like a normal NES would, some excessive use will break it in just fine

Mapping was quite easy with all online emulators, I was up and running within 1 minute.

Start and select buttons have a nice rubbery feel to it

If you want to play old school games on your PC, this is the controller to do it with!

NES Portable System Black and Wireless Light Gun Review

NES Portable System Black and Wireless Light GunI have for a very long time wanted to have a hand held NES and compared to other systems I've seen advertised this looks to be a good system, however I feel that the system falls short of its potential.

I think it's great that the system has the ability to function as a normal Nintendo would by hooking up to your TV. The system comes with all the cables you would need for doing so and I was very excited to find this out. Unfortunately this is not the reason I purchased the system.

The biggest flaw that I have found with the system is that the depth of the cartridge port that makes the contact with the game is very shallow. I have some very old games with contacts that have started to wear. Because of how shallow the port is some of my games won't even load.

The screen size is very small. The 2.5" LCD screen is very clear for its size but if you're going to play any games with text you may have a hard time reading anything that you are not familiar with.

Because the NES cartridge only goes into the system a little over an inch there is plenty of room for the game to shake and rattle around causing the game to crash. There is a bay cover that can help hold the cartridge in place but mine broke off with in the first few days of use.

Nintendo NES System - Video Game Console Review

Nintendo NES System - Video Game ConsoleArguably the single most important console in video game history, Nintendo Entertainment System (hereafter referred to as the NES), along with SUPER MARIO BROTHERS, singlehandedly resurrected the video game industry after the historic crash of 1983-1984. Rather than reviewing the system itself, which has been done many times, I think many people may find the history how of this revolutionary console came to the videogame industry's rescue very interesting; I know I do. I draw much of this information from various websites, one very good one in particular; unfortunately, I can't really plug them due to Amazon's policies. Email me if you want the websites.

By 1983, the gaming industry, in existence for a mere twelve years, had risen to an astonishing 3.2 billion dollar industry. Atari spearheaded the industry, which introduced its first console in 1977 (Atari Video Computer System), and since had grown to hold two thirds of the entire market. However, in 1984 all this would end with a thunderous crash. This concise overview will show you the history of the home consol crash and how the NES came to the rescue.

In 1976, Warner Communications bought Atari for $28 million from the company's founder, Nolan Bushnell. Over the next two years, Atari, suffering major production problems and Bushnell's bizarre management, lost Warner millions. Bushnell and Warner's CEO fought, and in 1978 Bushnell was forced to leave. Warner totally revamped the working style, and in 1979-1980, produced twelve new titles. However, Atari was still dragging down Warner's stock. Struggling to gain the market share, Atari made the smartest move they possible could have; in 1980, they began licensing arcade games, the first being SPACE INVADERS. Over the next two years, Atari overtook the market, bringing in over half of Warner's overall profits.

However, very significant problems would totally destroy the infant industry. In 1981, Atari released PAC MAN on the VCS, and, because it was such a huge arcade hit, quickly became a bestseller. Unfortunately, the quality was very low. This was a major blow to the company's image, with fans and critics alike extremely disappointed.

Another major stumble was one of video games' most infamous games, ET. Warner bought the rights from Spielberg for twenty one million dollars. Atari, expecting the game to be as big a hit as the movie, which was the highest grossing film at that point, purportedly made more ET cartridges than there were consoles themselves. ET proved to be a huge flop, nearly breaking Atari.

By 1983, Atari was in serious trouble. Suing Activision (which was disgruntled Atari employees who broke off and formed their own company) and Imagic, the two leading third party developers, Atari tried to gain control over its software catalogue. Atari lost the suits. Third party developers began popping up overnight, and the industry becomes saturated with very low-quality products. (One of the most controversial is CUSTER'S REVENGE by Mystique, where the goal is to rape a Native American woman while avoiding being shot by arrows.) The third-party developers went bankrupt; these cartridges were heavily discounted, and the major companies couldn't compete. Another factor is the home computer market, that was just starting to come alive in 1984. With an increasing amount of computer games and low prices, people started buying these over the consoles.

All these factors lead to the crash of 1984. In 1983 alone, Atari lost $356 million ($2 million daily). Warner sold Atari to Jack Tramiel, former head of Commodore. The video game industry died, with no major American corporation coming anywhere near it. Enter Nintendo.

A little history here will be highly illuminating as well. What many people don't realise is Nintendo is a very old company, founded in 1889 (yes, you read that right) as a playing card company. It became Japan's largest playing card company, and was very successful. In the 1960s, they moved away from the cards and got into the game and toy markets. (A very interesting sidenote: during that same decade, Nintendo's president opened up a `special hotel' rented `by the hour.' Supposedly, the married president was one of the hotel's top customers). In the 1970s and early 1980s, the company scored significant points with big arcade hits and the Game and Watch product line. In 1983, Nintendo released the Famicom (Family Computer). It was a massive hit in Japan. In 1983, Nintendo went to Atari because they wanted to release the Famicon to the American market. Do to complications I won't go into, the deal fail through. In 1984 they were looking to broaden their market share.

1985, Nintendo announced the release of the Nintendo Entertainment System. They release SUPER MARIO BROTHERS in Japan, scoring a huge hit. In 1986, the NES comes full throttle into the American market, quickly becoming the biggest selling console ever, largely because of that title. The NES owes much of its success to SUPER MARIO BROTHERS. Coming prepacked with the console, there are an estimated 40 million copies of SMB in existence, making it the highest selling video game ever.

Unparalleled, SMB blew open the doors to the videogaming world. With rich palettes of colour, eight four level worlds, spot-on play control, and expert level design, SMB was a much longer game than most of Atari's products and was a game unlike any other at that time. SMB also had the benefit of being very simple to grasp; run, jump, and fire. It was also the first side-sroller as we know it, though Atari's PITFALL set up the concept. Also, it's one of the best. Without SMB, NES wouldn't have been nearly as big a hit in the beginning.

In the end, Nintendo came at the industry's key moment. With a powerful new console (for that time) and a very well-designed game, Nintendo resurrected video gaming. With its phenomenal success of the NES and SMB, the video game industry once again took off, becoming one of the world's most significant economical contributors.

And we very largely have the NES to thank for it.
