Lemmings 2: Tribes Review

This game has at least 100 levels, if not more than 200.And that's perfectly fine with me.Lemmings 2 is one of those great games where you can sit down and play just a few levels at a time, enjoying it for years before you beat it.

For those not familiar with the concept of "Lemmings", let me fill you in:These little guys walk mindlessly around.That wouldn't be a problem, except that there are all kinds of dangerous things that they might walk into.So you have to assign them tasks to help them avoid these obstacles and ultimately, arrive at a certain checkpoint safe and sound.

It doesn't sound like much, but it's a lot of fun keeping these guys alive.The best part is that there are MANY different ways to finish a particular level (sometimes, you may even pat yourself on the back, wondering if you may have discovered a way that the manufacturers didn't think of).Moreover, the game has dozens of silly animations that add to the fun.

For those that loved the original, I suggest you come back here for more.There are plenty of creative new tasks for your lemmings to use, and plenty of new levels to master.For those new to the genre, well, what are you waiting for?Come have some fun while exercising your brain!

Krusty's Super Fun House Review

For brainiacs and people that love puzzles, this is a five star game, for those who love action and shooting games, you will get bored after the first few levels. You are Krusty the Klown and your funhouse has been overrun by rats! So you must go on five levels and around 40 stages killing them all in fun ways. Not killing them by shoting them, killing them by setting paths from the mice to where they go into a rat trap. Putting down blocks to make stairs so they go up to a trap or putting them in jars and releasing them near a trap. But there are other hazards along the way to stop Krusty, like giant snakes and birds and you must kill them with either cream pies or super bouncy balls.

Shadowgate Review

Knowing how far video games have come in the past few years, it is easy to forget the classics. "Shadowgate" is considered by many to be one of the best and most innovative RPGs of it's time, and is still a hot item amongst older gamers (like me) to this day.
You are an adventurer who is on a quest to stop the evil Warlock Lord, who has the power to destroy humanity. So you enter Castle Shadowgate in order to seek out the Warlok Lord and end his reign. Of coarse, nothing come easy. You encounter dangerous beasts, ghosts, and if you fail, death himself. You also have to solve mind-bending puzzles, which is the main appeal of this game. You have to rely more on your brains and wits rather than your sword. The game is quite difficult the first time through, and will definitely keep you busy for a few days at least. But there in lies the big flaw in "Shadowgate". There is no replay value. Once you have beaten the game, you know all the secrets and can easily breeze through the second time around. I beat this game in two weeks, but the second time I beat it in less than 45 minutes. But considering the age of this game, it is not a huge downer. It is still a fun trip down memory lane.
In terms of graphics, they are great by NES standards. The colors and textures add depth to any given situation, while the music also compliments the mood. Since this is an old-school RPG, the emphasis is more on story and puzzles rather than action and fighting.
For games who want to experience games from their childhood, or see where games like "Final Fantasy" came from, you should check out "Shadowgate".

Marble Madness Review

I never got to own this game, only play it at a friends house.It's a really addicting, though difficult game about marbles.It was created by Milton Bradley (no, not the arrogant guy who plays for that Oakland team).

You, as a marble, go through 6 mazes.That's the point of the game.At the end of the game you find out how good you did by way of a scorecard.Simple, fun marble madness.

NES Ghosts 'N Goblins Review

Let me say this, THIS GAME IS BY FAR ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT GAMES ever made.I will also say that it is not one everyone will enjoy.I have incredible fun playing this game as well as its SNES version.Here is my review.

The story is that you are the valiant Sir Arthur, not sure if there is supposed to be a relation to King Arthur but my guess is no.Your girlfriend and you are on a picnic in the graveyard (as seen in the opening scene) dont ask why you picnic in the graveyard but you do.Then a big red monster with wings, Satan i guess, appears and kidnaps her.You must follow the beast through the land and save your girlfriend.

Let me say some of the negatives of the game.The biggest problem is that YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE GAME TWICE IN ORDER TO WIN.Yes that is true, you go through the game and when you get to the final boss you are sent back to the beginning to obtain an item you need to defeat Satan.There is no way to get the item on your first playthrough and the develpers thought this would be a wonderful idea, well since the game is so darn difficult it is not fun at all when it happens to you, especially when you think your almost done.Also you die in two hits and many areas have respawning monsters and difficult traps.Getting extra lives is rare and like I said before the game is incredibly hard!

Positives are that the gameplay is great.Your standard weapon is like a lance or sword that you throw, you get powerups to your weapon.Also the games level designs are rather fun and the levels are quite different for one another, at least for the NES days.The game's difficulty also is not the kind that comes from being frustrating, its a lot like how difficult Mario Brother games are, you will die and die constantly but you will continue playing as you pull your hair out.You also feel some accomplishment when you pass a level or boss.

Overall I feel this game is great for the hard core gamer or someone who enjoys a real challenge.Many casual gamers will be turned away by its difficulty but I feel it is a very fun game worth owning.

Dr. Mario Review

Incredibly simple -- and simply addictive. It's practically impossible to put this game down once you start playing it. There are vague similarities to Tetris, but Dr. Mario is even simpler in concept. So you can jump in immediately -- but this doesn't mean the game isn't challenging. You'll quickly discover just how difficult a simple game can get! Fortunately, the three game play speeds and 21 levels of play allow you to set the difficulty level at whatever is most challenging for you.

A serious beef with the GBA version: the screen is poorly lit, and as a result the red and yellow viruses and capsules can be hard to distinguish from each other. I'm hoping that, since GBA games can also be played on the DS, the better lighting of the DS might solve this problem.

And a minor quibble: why not save the high scores?! (They are erased every time you turn off the system.) This was also true in the 8-bit NES version, but there's just no excuse for not having the saving capability now. It'd be nice not to have to write down my high scores!

Snake Rattle N Roll Review

Though at times the game can be tricky it is actually quite simple! The purpose is to get as many balls onto the end of your tail before getting to the end to get a better score! Which can become quite competitive when playing with a sibling or friend! At times u may get crunched, squished, or just fall of the edge but thats ok... Its all part of thew fun and u can always start over.. And besides if it happens to ur ally u get rewarded by stealing everything they have just worked for!!1 Excellent game for kids and adults alike!!! There are lots of puzzles and mazes remind u.. So it does requirte thinking and consentration!!

Tetris Attack Review

Tetris Attack actually has little to do with the original Tetris except for the name.The object is to clear the blocks that keep rising in your screen by lining up a minimum of three of the same kind.Sound easy?It might be at first, but the longer you play the faster it goes and the harder it gets.
This game was the first one I bought when I bought my system a couple years back.For the first week, I was addicted, even seeing the screen in my sleep.It's still one of my favorites.When I'm looking to relax, I stick this game in and enjoy.

Yoshi Review

This is a pretty good game, much like Tetris. There is an original concept though, because little monsters drop down like blocks. They drop down, you do not turn them, instead Yoshi is at the bottom of the screen holding up four plates (to collect the monsters), and you move him around, and pivot these plates to collect the monsters. Its not that simple though, the only way to kill these monsters is to capture them into egg halves that drop down. First get a lower half of an egg, drop a few monsters onto the half egg, then drop the top half of the egg. Then the eggs, squeeze together killing the enemies! Like a verticle Tetris!

Mario Paint Review

I didn't even know what this was until I bought it, and I love it. I see a lot of similarities between Mario Paint and Photoshop. The main difference is that Photoshop has a lot of weird tools I don't understand, and Mario Paint has more than just "Paint" stuff. The intro is interactive, it has a Mario-themed music editor, and it has a Swat-the-Bug game. You can do lots of kool stuff with Mario Paint.

Yoshi's Cookie Review

I enjoy puzzle games a lot (Tetris, Dr. Mario, Bejeweled, etc) and due to the nature of this game, I cannot help but like it. If you prefer sidescrolling/platform games, this game might not be for you, but if you find puzzles enjoyable, than this is for you. The rules and control of the cookies/tiles are deceptively simple, but the game is more complex and enjoyable than it looks.

Oh man, if you loved the original Tetris then you're gonna love this! It has the same addictive game play and the blocks have different patterns this time. It's much funner than a lot of those other Tetris remakes and spinoffs! A highly recommended title for your NES library.

Dr. Mario Review

This is an excellent game and if you were looking for a version of Tetris that was more challenging, than DR MARIO was for you. This game is sometimes very tricky, but it's very fun as well.
The object of the game is to match the colors of the pills that are being dropped onto the viruses below and by doing this killing them off, one by one. I really don't carw what anyone says but this game rocked. In Tetris, the challenge was to clear lines that are at the bottom and they build up. In DR MARIO you had to play the boards as they were giben and in most cases, the viruses were all over the place so placing some of the pills in the wrong place could come back to haunt you.
Like I said, the challenge to this game is great and it never got tired. Really check out DR MARIO it's worth it!
