Ice Climber Review

Ice ClimberIts kind of funny how there sellin this for windows 98 when you can just download it for free from the internet. They have every NES game out there in the open. You just need to know about emulators and roms. Just go on youtube and pick a tutorial about an NES emulator and you'll know what I'm talkin about.

I hope this was helpful.

Flintstones II: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak Review

Flintstones II: Surprise at Dinosaur PeakSo what makes the game so great?Well you can play as Fred or Barney and switch at anytime with SELECT, a revolutionary concept for the NES.The game is a fun platformer that gets pretty challenging as the game goes on with some hidden bonus levels where you can collect stars toward 1-ups and also some fun sports mini games. This was one of the last games released for NES so the game really takes the NES to it's limits.

A true collectible, Flintstones Surprise at Dino Peak was primarily "rental only" making it difficult to find and especially rare with box and manual. The game now sports a price tag of 224.95 and higher on Amazon.com

Super Off Road Review

Super Off RoadDon't mistake "Super" Off-Road for some halfhearted sequel, oh no!

This is the original, spin the steering-wheel like a sea-captain, skip the shocks, buy the acceleration, rumble around yet another brown dirt track via a locked overhead pespective stand-up arcade racing classic you know and love so well.

There is no functional difference between the arcade version and the Super NES Version, except the lack of a big, freely rotating wheel to steer by.

I loved this game in the arcade, and I love it now.

Does anyone know the name of the parralax-scrolling absolute top down rally racer that was similar in concept to this game?I have been looking for it for years. You could purchase front and rear wings, front and rear ENGINEs, nitro, tires, etc.You had to BUY GAS!In the arcade, four people stood on each side of the screen, which was laid out flat like a table. If your opponents got too far ahead of you, you would be warped forward and lose gas.Like Super Off-Road, you could pick up items which appeared randomly on the track.Unlike Super Off Road, this game had more upgrades, featured a scrolling view, and had obstacles which moved with time, for instance ocean waves. Please if you know what game this is, EMail crazyfreakinweirdo@yahoo.com.

Classic NES Series: Super Mario Bros Review

Classic NES Series: Super Mario BrosIf you want to buy one of the RETRO Classic NES carts Nintendo is offering this is definitely #1 on the list for sheer ease of play and memories. SUPER MARIO BROS is a perfect port of the NES game (minus one glitch at the end of the 3rd world that gave you infinite lives).Several have bemoaned you can not save your progress, and that's true ... but in the original game this was not an option.Learn the game well enough and you can WARP your way through the beginning levels anyway! You play as Mario or Luigi jumping your way through many worlds (levels) to get to save Princess Toadstool and her courtiers.Set in a land where evil mushrooms, turtles, fish and birds attack from all directions (okay 90% of them are on the right!).
The graphics and controls are the same ... no embellishments or "lost zones" or challenge modes ... just straight up classic MARIO and LUIGI in their first adventure back in the NES days. It's a very nice port, and I like the ability to take it with me on the road in my SP.It also brings back memories when I hook it up to the TV and get to see it normal size!
I've kind of gone off about paying $20 for Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, and Excite Bike (why not a compilation of those on ONE cart - especially when you can get the e-reader versions for $5).But this one is well worth it because you have many levels to play, and the ability to play 2 player! This is still a fun game, and I can't believe how instantly likeable it still is even after playing all the latest!Cute, simple, and fun!Any age can enjoy it!Highly reccommended - not just for nostalgia freaks.Though they will get a kick out of the perfect replica packaging - from the instructions, the cart, and the box -- it all looks old school!Trademark classic 80s game that helped build an empire around Italian plumbers attacking mushrooms!Wow!

Nintendo 64 Console Refurbished With One Contoller and GameMan I played this in college in the 90's and had a TON of fun, picked up a console with games on Craigslist for my kids (2,4,5,7) and they absolutely love it! When I told them they could shoot each other playing 007, it was like I was the best dad ever! LOL, I have never seen them so excited! In 2010 This console is still awesome and very kid friendly! Classic NES Series: Excitebike Review

Classic NES Series: ExcitebikeExcitebike is one hell of a good game and now it is revived on the Gameboy Advance. Those who loved the original and want it here unchanged can have that.
Excitebike once again has a nice and easy to get used to way of playing. You press the B and A buttons to accelerate. The B buonn pushes you along faster but you also have a bar at the bottom of your screen. Once it fills up you have to let your bike sit for a while until it cools down. Not to mention that you also race against three other drivers going over bumps and whatnot. The real task at hand isn't to beat the other three players but to beat the time.
Excitebike was the first racing game to have a track editor. Unfortunately on the NES you couldn't save that track. But on the GBA you actually can save it. My gripe is you can only save one track which bites.
There are a couple of other problems. If you have an E-Reader you can get Excitebike there. The other is simply that the GBA has had to have some of the graphics squashed down to fit the screen. This shouldn't pose any real problems though.
Excitebike is a grand game and one of the true classics in the Classie NES Series.Along with "Super Mario Bros." and of course "The Legend of Zelda" this is what you should get.

Robocop (Nintendo NES) Review

RobocopI don't care if Robocop is a horribly dated and cheesy movie from the 80's.I don't care if the NES is an old video game console that people occasionally make fun of.I don't care if there's not a jump button in the game.I don't care if most people hate the game so much there hasn't been a single review submitted yet.I just care about the awesome shooting action and fun gameplay this game provides and will continue to provide for years to come. For less than a buck you can't go wrong with short, innocent shooting action.A great challenge, a fun time, and the streets are rough and mean but one man/robot can wipe out the bad guys and make the city safe again. That man/robot my friends, is Robocop.

Mario Paint Review

Mario PaintI didn't even know what this was until I bought it, and I love it. I see a lot of similarities between Mario Paint and Photoshop. The main difference is that Photoshop has a lot of weird tools I don't understand, and Mario Paint has more than just "Paint" stuff. The intro is interactive, it has a Mario-themed music editor, and it has a Swat-the-Bug game. You can do lots of kool stuff with Mario Paint.

Super Mario Bros. Review

Super Mario Bros.Sold as a 2 in 1 package or 3 in 1 package Super Mario Bros. easily out shinned the other games that it came with. The second in a long line of Mario games and the game that help make Nintendo what it is today.Super Mario Bros. had the first appearance of his arch nemesis Bowser and flying turtles, who can forget the flying turtles?
Replayability [10/10] Yes, replayability, the ability for you to play one game over and over and not become bored with it.Super Mario Bros. has been beaten myself well over 100 times, whether I just warp through the levels or just go through the whole game its been done.No matter how often I play it, it still brings back the days of spiking a controller into the ground when you fall into a pit or get hit by a hammer from a Hammer Brother. Super Mario Bros. is the game that got me into video games and I have never put it down since. One of the key reasons to it being so easy to pick back up is the size of the game. There are 8 worlds with 3 sub divisions in most of them. And even if you get bored of playing it at one time and would just like to finish it off, there is always a warp point only a few minutes away.No matter how many times you beat this game, it just never seems to get old enough to leave in the closet. If it were any better, it would have had a movie made after it…wait a minute.
Gameplay [09/10] Jumping on baddies head is an attack that nobody could ever withstand.Super Mario Bros. gameplay is superb to say the least.Since it is in fact a side scroller Mario is very easy to control, left or right?Although you can't go back in levels you can go left to dodge a speeding turtle shell or snag that coin you just ran by which could lead to an extra life.Gaining an extra life is very simple as many of us know, collect 100 coins and you got one, hit 5 guys with one shell or hope on 5 in a row and you get another.Or there is the 99 Life trick where you continuously jump on one turtle shell until the crown appears. The only bad part of the gameplay is the repetitiveness of jumping or throwing fireballs over and over again, but at this point in time, there wasn't much else you could do.
Graphics & Audio[09/10] For it's time, both were spectacular. The graphics where superb and anyone who grew up with a system of this magnitude can easy tolerate the graphics today, as long as your Nintendo is still clean and useable of course. There is no lag in the game at all, even when switching worlds and such, since it is the old school cartridges and not CD's.Super Mario Brother's audio tracks are classics, and have even been played by Orchestras in New York and San Francisco, not many other games have that on their stat line.It obvious that the music is classic because by now I'm sure you guys all have the tune bouncing around your head or have at some point. As for the other in-game sounds they are also quite classic themselves. The favorite sound obviously being the ringing when receiving a 1up.
Overall[14/15] Super Mario Bros. is probably as classic as you can get, hence why we chose it to be the first Cave review ever. After writing this much of the review I picked up my Nintendo to check out Super Mario once again, and using the warps it only took me about 15 minutes to beat. What a great game it is, and if I didn't use a single warp it would have taken me probably an hour.Such a versitile game should be in ever gamers library and that's why it has been ranked as a Cave Must Have.

Super Mario World Review

Super Mario WorldI still play this game to this day. I played it as a kid, never beat it, but I played it so much with my friends and alone, and I pull it out to play every once in a while still. Mario has always been one of my favorite game series of all time. Opening up with arguably the most influencial game of all time: The Original Mario Brothers, then an average game by Mario standards of 2, Lost Levels only released in Japan, which is a great one by the way, and one of the most popular games of all time: Super Mario Brothers 3. World had a huge reputation to live up to, and it did, even exceeding expectations for a lot of people, including me.
Gameplay: 9.5/10
The levels in this game are brilliantly done by Nintendo. Fun platforming, cool enemies, and just above all else, amazing level design. Those of you that have played a Mario game know what I'm talking about. It's the heart and soul of every Mario game; the reason every Mario game is praised so highly. Every level is done very nicely. As usual with Nintendo, brilliant stuff here.
Back when the Super Nintendo was king, Videogames were marketed more towards people ages 15 and under, so with this, the challenge of the game isn't hard. For the most part, you can just fly through these levels but there's the occasional tricky one. One thing Nintendo should do is add a difficulty setting to their games. It pains me to play such great games, but be challenged so little with them all.
At the time of this games release, games were anywhere from 5-10 hours in length, with the RPGs going 25+ hours. You can get through this one in easily under 10 hours, and possible in 5 hours on your first time. With each time you play throug it, it becomes quicker.
I would complain about the length, but for the time it came out, it was your average length. Plus the replay value is good. The levels, as I said, are brilliant, so you want to play through them more than once, and Mario=Fun, so you will want to play through this game atleast a couple times. All in all, the length disappoints for the time it is now(2003), but it's still good, and was normal for it's time.
I took off the .5 because the difficulty setting is too easy for a lot of people. These are Nintendo games, so people don't complain because they're amazing, but you have to admit, a more challenging Mario game would be a lot of fun.
Replay Value: 8.7
I touched on this already. Nintendo games are amazing, so you'll want to play through this one atleast twice. Can't complain in this department, but extras would have helped.
Music: 9.4
Nice stuff here. Easily one of Nintendo's best soundtracks. Cheery tunes in the normal levels, darker tunes for the castles, and Ghost levels. Very nice intro for the game as well. Just great stuff through out the whole game; not a bad song anywhere.
Graphics: 9.8/10
WOW. This is the Super Nintendo at it's best. Mario looks great, and the levels are bursting with color. The castles with lava look especially great. Vibrant, beautiful colors. Still very pleasing on the eyes to this day.
Overall:(Not an average) 9.6/10
Considered by many the best Mario game of all time, and rightfully so. From brilliant levels to great music and graphics. Nintendo went all out on this one.

Super Mario Bros. 2 Review

Super Mario Bros. 2While many consider this the black sheep of the Super Mario Bros series on the NES, this game is actually my favorite on the bunch. The world is nothing like the world of the other Mario games, and the enemies and bosses and goal is different. This is a quest to defeat Boss Wart (instead of Bowser) and you have the options of playing as one of four characters (with the ability to switch every level): Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad. Each of these characters have different play characteristics.Toad can pick up any object with no difficulty but is the worst jumper.Princess is the opposite (no strength, but can float).Luigi has the best jump (no float), but that becomes its own problem.Mario is perfectly average. These strengths and weaknesses come into play in choosing who to use for each level and some are clearly better than others on any given level. Even though I found this game to be the easiest of the bunch, for me it was also the most fun. This is still a side-scrolling game, but some levels scroll up and down on the screen (keeping the side-scrolling viewpoint, though) depending on if you are climbing or dropping down. There are shortcuts in many levels and different ways to warp, get extra lives (including an odd cheat for extra lives), or to shorten the game.In the end, there are a couple of difficult levels, but this may be the easiest of the three on the NES.Even so, this is my favorite of all of the Super Mario games on the NES.

Product Description:
GREAT GAME. SUPER MARIO BROTHERS PART 2 FOR NES NINTENDO. ALL-TIME CLASSIC. A MUST FOR ANY TRUE HARDCORE GAMER, COLLECTOR OR GAME PLAYER. LOTS OF FUN. HERE IS SOME MINOR INFO ON THE GAME. Players choose from four characters each time they start or restart a level: Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Peach. Each has a special ability: Luigi can jump very high, the Princess can remain temporarily suspended in the air as if she were levitating, Toad can pick up things quickly and is very agile, and Mario is well-balanced in all areas. This is the only original Super Mario game where Princess Peach is not the damsel-in-distress along with being the first playable female character in a Mario game. In future Mario games in which multiple characters were playable, with the exception of Mario Golf, Mario would always be the most balanced character. A unique ability in this game is the "power squat"; by holding Down on the control pad for a few seconds, players could build power for higher jumps. One of the game's most defining aspect is the ability to pluck vegetables from the ground to throw at enemies; these vegetables reappear in Super Smash Bros. Melee as one of Peach's special attacks.

Super Mario Bros. 3 Review

Super Mario Bros. 3Super Mario Bros 2 is my favorite game of the series and the original SMB is a legend. So where does this leave Super Mario Bros 3?This was the last Super Mario game on the old NES and while I might like some of the other games more, this might be the class of the series on the NES.With the strange direction that SMB2 went, this was a trip back to the roots of Mario. This is a true side scrolling game and features many of the same enemies from the original. You still jump, stomp and throw fire to make your way through the game. But there are new features now.First, there is now a world map and you can select which level you want to enter next. Some levels are avoidable, some are not, but you can also do special areas (several mini-games and an area where you get bonus items). You are able to get items throughout the game, and you can use them before levels to be stronger. There are also several different suits that augment your abilities. The most common is the Racoon suit which allows you to kill the enemies by flicking your tail at them, and also giving you the ability to fly for short periods of time. There is also a frog suit (allowing swimming to be easier), a Tanooki suit (much like the raccoon suit, but you can briefly turn to stone to avoid enemies...rare), and I believe there is a Hammer Brothers Suit (but I could be wrong about this one....my memory is a little hazy). This is one of the best games released for the NES and is essential gaming for a Mario fan.
