Operation Wolf Review

Operation WolfOperation Wolf is a very mixed bag. On the one hand, it is perhaps the most complex light-gun game for the NES--compared to Hogan's Alley, Duck Hunt, a few others. On the other hand, I can't help but feel that it should have stayed in the arcade. The game is from your point of view, as you go through concentration camps, jungles, and other enemy-infested areas. There is no need to move your character, since the screen scrolls. All you control is your gunsight. In addition to the level variety, there are also multiple endings--pretty impressive for a shooting game back then. You can finish your mission successfully, get captured, or get killed. But there are some major downfalls to this game. First and foremost is the fact that this is a very bad light-gun game. Sure, you can use your light-gun, just remember that the NES light-gun didn't have Auto-fire. Your finger will be plain tired shortly after starting the level, meaning that you'll die shortly after, meaning you'll have to start all over again. If you use the NES controller to move your gunsight, it's a little sensitive at times, but at least you can squeeze off more rounds with less effort on the part of your thumbs. In the arcade version, the light-guns were semi-automatic, which made the game more realistic and easier to play. To wrap this review up, this game's only (but major) fault is in it's light-gun mode.

Super Off Road Review

Super Off RoadDon't mistake "Super" Off-Road for some halfhearted sequel, oh no!

This is the original, spin the steering-wheel like a sea-captain, skip the shocks, buy the acceleration, rumble around yet another brown dirt track via a locked overhead pespective stand-up arcade racing classic you know and love so well.

There is no functional difference between the arcade version and the Super NES Version, except the lack of a big, freely rotating wheel to steer by.

I loved this game in the arcade, and I love it now.

Does anyone know the name of the parralax-scrolling absolute top down rally racer that was similar in concept to this game?I have been looking for it for years. You could purchase front and rear wings, front and rear ENGINEs, nitro, tires, etc.You had to BUY GAS!In the arcade, four people stood on each side of the screen, which was laid out flat like a table. If your opponents got too far ahead of you, you would be warped forward and lose gas.Like Super Off-Road, you could pick up items which appeared randomly on the track.Unlike Super Off Road, this game had more upgrades, featured a scrolling view, and had obstacles which moved with time, for instance ocean waves. Please if you know what game this is, EMail crazyfreakinweirdo@yahoo.com.

Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight Review

Street Fighter 2010: The Final FightThe Word Street Fighter has been identified as, by any gamer's standards, a Fighting Game. This installment of street fighter, however, is nothing of the sort. As a matter of fact, it's a platformer!
Street Fighter 2010 puts you in the role of a man named Ken (no, he is not the one from the series, oddly) who seeks the the killer of his friend (Who also happens to NOT be M. Bison). As you might have guessed from the title, it is supposed to take place in the future. The game features an upgradable weapon system and an insane difficulty. However,it just seems like Capcom slapped a popular name on an otherwise fairly run-of-the-mill platformer. So, if you are a fighting game fan through and through, don't feel too bad if you pass on this game. However, if you want to test your mettle at old-school platformers, you may want to pick this one up.

The Simpsons - Bart vs. The World Review

The Simpsons - Bart vs. The WorldI could vaguely remember this game as a kid when I bought it here on Amazon a couple of weeks ago. All I could remember was skateboarding the Great Wall of China and answering Simpons trivia questions. That was enough for me to pick this up for under $5 bucks and reconnect with my youth. In the past I've bought games I remember playing as a kid and played them now and was let down. It wasn't the case with this game. At first the controls for this game were tough. And it took me forever to beat part 1 of the north pole. But once you beat a level the next time you play it you go through it with relative ease. Which is good because it makes the game challenging but still something you can beat. The bonus games on here are so much fun. You really get that nostalgic feeling playing memory with Simpons characters, and doing the picture puzzles. It's pretty much everything you want in a Simpsons game. You get to skateboard, fly, and use cherry bombs as weapons. You play as Bart for the entire game. Mr. Burns has rigged the art contest on the Krusty the Clown show. It's set up so Bart can win the trip around the world to collect all the Krusty the Clown collectibles. While on the treasure hunt Mr. Burns and Smithers plan to wipe the Simpsons off the planet. Collect all the Krusty pieces from China, The North Pole, Egypt, and finnally Hollywood. There's two endings to this game which I like. You can beat the game without collecting the Krusty pieces but the ending is terrible. Go back and beat the game with all the unique collectibles the Simpsons family gives you through out the game, and you get the alternate ending where you get to throw a pie in MR. Burns' and Smithers face. The serious gamer who's not really into the Simpsons might find this game lame. But if you love the Simpsons and are familar with there other games for NES and SNES add this to your collection. This is definitely the best of the Simpsons NES games.

Star Wars Review

Star WarsBasically, there are two things that really drag this game down. First of all, like many other NES games there is no save option OR password option. You HAVE to beat it in one sitting. Finally, you think beating it in one sitting sounds easy? Believe me, this game will challenge even the best of video-gamers. You probably CAN beat it, just expect to replay the game a million times until you can recite the level layout in your sleep. Although it didn't detract from my limited enjoyment of the game, I though that some of the graphics were downright goofy. I mean, Luke Skywalker looks like he's wearing a diaper for crying out loud! But now on to the positive. The game follows the movie closely, as it should. You can play as Leia, Luke, or Han Solo. You can also fly a variety of vehicles. But overall, this game is just not that good, for all the reasons I mentioned above. The sequel (The Empire Strikes Back for NES), however, was much better.

Robocop (Nintendo NES) Review

RobocopI don't care if Robocop is a horribly dated and cheesy movie from the 80's.I don't care if the NES is an old video game console that people occasionally make fun of.I don't care if there's not a jump button in the game.I don't care if most people hate the game so much there hasn't been a single review submitted yet.I just care about the awesome shooting action and fun gameplay this game provides and will continue to provide for years to come. For less than a buck you can't go wrong with short, innocent shooting action.A great challenge, a fun time, and the streets are rough and mean but one man/robot can wipe out the bad guys and make the city safe again. That man/robot my friends, is Robocop.

Friday the 13th Review

Friday the 13thThis game is truly amazing for NES, even though it is very old and for NES it is still pretty cool. You can be one of many teenager (they look like kids though) to battle the great Jason and look for the missing children. Jaosn is very hard to kill, that the only reason I gave this a 4 instead of 5, he is creepy though, you find him in houses. Its a big level, with many houses, if you lucky you will go into the house with Jason and fight him , bu he allways comes back of course! I love the music, it is actually creepy, it sounds like something from a Friday the 13th movie,I love it! This is a game that will haunt you for hours!

NINTENDO NES GAME: A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET Review

NINTENDO NES GAME: A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREETI've been playing this game since I wore diapers (I'm serious). This is really fun and entertaining. I love it! The only down side is with muliple players. If you have a really good player and a bad one, you will most likely end up losing your soul to Freddy. The reason for that is that the two people need to be in the screen. No split screens in this game. For information on the game, it is roughly based on the movie A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. Another version, but completely different, was released for Commodor 64 & PC. Just to wrap this up, it is a great game even with poor graphics, (give the designers a break! they didn't have high-tech HD computers and fancy tools like today) so give it a chance and play. You won't regret.
